'91 PBR vs '93-'97 PBR
I'm searching for info on the differences between my current '91 PBR rear discs (as far as backing plate and mounting provisions) and the '93-'97 LT1 PBR rear discs. Reason being, I'm thinking about upgrading to a 12-bolt axle sometime soon, and Strange says they're set up for '93-'97 F-body rear discs.
From what I can tell in searching, they seem to be the same from '89-'97. Does anybody have a picture of the two backing plates side by side or anything??

The only real difference is in the backing plate. The 4th gen plates are cast iron and a lot thicker, maybe an inch or so. There's no difference on the install though, they will bolt up the same. Your '91 discs will work. If you are in doubt, get a set of '93-97 backing plates and install your current brakes, they'll work fine.

No. The following thread will show the caliper and backing plate from my 85 as well as the backing plates used on 89-92 (as I understand it, the 93-97 version is somewhat similiar only beefier).

No, they are different in length and also the way they attach to the e-brake adjuster in the trans tunnel. Buy cables for a '89-90 disc brake 3rd gen and they work fine.

hey guys, slightly off topic, but, I'm building up my own set of 93-97 rear pbr's on my 9-bolt. What should the 2 large bolts holding the caliper carrier to the backing plate be torqued to? I'm thinking about 75ft lbs, about the same size as a 7/16" bolt, like a head bolt. Anyone know the exact spec? Ed, what do you use for the torque spec?
