I finally did it. I ran an 8.975 on street tires on a crappy track. My car is pretty well stock. I have an 89 GTA with an air foil, AFPR, 2200 stall, and hedman longtubes. I think I could have ran an 8.5 or faster with slicks and on a good track. Let me know what you think.

Tonight we went to edgewater in cleves, ohio and I ran a 13.98 at 96 mph. I had a 1.8 60' and a 8.8 1/8. That is my best so far. I hooked really good for having kumho ecsta 711 in the rear.

MPH was 75.** with a 1.9* 60'. I was running a 9.1 at 72.** and a 1.9* 60'.

 

Very nice. I trapped at 76 MPH, but ran a 9.3 (2.77 rear, 2.14 60 ft).

 

very nice times. i would think ur trap speeds would be alittle higher in the 75-77 range pretty consistantly but still a decent ET nonetheless

i ran 8.80 with 2.77's at 77mph with full exhaust.. 1.89 60 foot

recently i bested with a 80mph trap speed but a 8.995 et with teh new gears.. same tires

 

8.48 at close to 81 mph.
I have a stock converter though...and a mild bowl blend on the heads (all else same including valve springs) and an exhaust cutout got me that. Also have Accel intake and runners, headers, free mods. 193K miles at the time.

 

wow smithtc thats a nice time! i have cut 1.8's on street tires but only gave me a 8.80 with 2.77 gears. i would think the best i could do would be 8.6's at 80mph with the new gears. 8.4's is moving! were u on street tires?

 

I honestly don't remember. I put on some Drag Radials (Nittos) at some point. Don't recall if it was before or after that time. To be conservative with my answer, I'd say I had Nittos on. Hmmm...Seems like I remember doing no better than 1.99s with street tires (spinning)...and the Nittos gained me a tenth off 60'. Went from 8.6s at 80 to 8.4s with the .1 gain at the 60'.

Since then I swapped on some fully ported 083 heads with new valve springs and 1.6 roller rockers. Never got back to the track with a good tune. Had to swap injectors (old was leaking bad). Day I was ready to go to track with good tune my theft deterrent system thought I was stealing my own car...so car wouldn't start. Got that fixed. Now my gas tank leaks. Damn old car.
