First at track with T/A this year 11.04 @ 123.78

Well If you know me, you know its no new best, however I am real happy..
T/A has been down with trans problems, since BBC broke in Camaro I decided to swap the th350 into the T/A..
I used an old B&M 3000 stall, so knowing I was giving up about 800 rpm on stall and higher first of th350, with my 3.73s and 28" tall tires I really did not expect much.. was actually hoping for 11.2s.
Also car has 42lb injectors now, and I have had no time to tune, so guessing with the prom and..
Man did I lose alot on the 60ft though, from 1.42s to 1.55s car felt dead leaving..
11.12 @ 122 - 1.55 60ft
Raised fp to 41lbs
11.04 @ 123.66 - 1.54 60ft
raised fp to 42 lbs
11.04 @ 123.78 - 1.54 60ft
Have serious violent tire shake on left front when it comes down and last into 3rd gear.. Last pass it was actually chirping - bad ball joint maybe.

It should go 10s, Kinda wish I put the super street fighter in now.

C'mon mw66..
You know better than that .. lol.. N/A on 93oct.
I was going to spray for one pass, but the only way I had to activate
was a toggle under dash - so it was on or off with switch, to risky...
And I thought it may pull a 10 on last pass..
We only got 3 passes, it rained in middle.

Not so awsome due to best of 10.87 - but considering the setup right now
I am happy.. it should have easily been 10s with super street fighter being 60s were more than a 1/10 off..
It was weird also, I took the monster tach out and all I had was the Harlan shift light to use - I never use shift lights, but had no choice.. Second pass I actually shifted just before light on 1 - 2 shift.

Now gotta figure out why the wheel is going to fly off.

Anyone else ever run into this? Violent shaking of front wheels when the make contact with ground?

i believe that's called bump steer and you'll need to get a bump steer kit to fix that...or go through and put all new ball-joints in her if they are bad.

Yea, Tom, your best is a 10.87 N/A, but you now have a different converter, and transmission, (I just love my 700R4, hehehe), and injectors. Thats a major change IMO. A couple of tenths, and a couple of MPH difference is not to shabby. Being off a tenth on the 60s, cost you a couple on the big end. Sorry to hear about your BBC problems, BTW. Where were you racing at, MIR?

Cecil County is notorious for being the fastest track on the east coast.

Thanks fellas,
Not getting Email updates for some reason for new replys.

As for the th350, I really hated to give up the overdrive, but I am running the tighter converter and 3.73s with a 28" street tire - so its not that bad..
Still very drivable, just not as nice.
The launch feels dead, though I am used to the BBC - man is that thing violent.. Update on that is , machinest is taking responsibility for all of it and fixing free.. score!

My track is pittsburgh raceway park - the prep sux, makes me so mad, they raise prices last 2 years and food is about $7 soyburger thats 6 hrs old.
They prep about a 2sq foot area.
But they finally bought a track dryer this year - but still rain out if it rains night before.
I have raced at MIR before - Track prep is unreal!! Wow does that track hook!!!! And great elevation. Also have friends that go to cecil, I will probably go this year - good for 2-3 tenths over home tack.

MIR has a towel guy in bathroom, that was rather wierd!
He should put gojo on your hands for you.

Still real happy with the T/A, car has been on back burner due to the Camaro
Hate the soft 60fts, but nice not worrying about traction so much..
Happy with the 123.8 in humid weather, guess new cam helped..
Would love to throw in a converter and transbrake and run 10.7s, but car is needs to stay street friendly. Ill probably spray it again soon, depends on weather though..

Cool thing, got to drive an all original 67 427 mint stingray yesterday.. Pretty neat, felt really really torquey
Forgot to take camera, but can plan on getting pics.
Also in same garage was a mint 89 T/A - I was more into that.. Looked like brand new, but under cover..

Father friends, blowing white smoke and asked me to look at, looks like valve seals to me..

That happened to me, on two occasions. Both times were when TGO switched over. The first time, I had to switch the email notification from Verizon, to Yahoo, then the second time, I had to open a new Yahoo account. So far so good. Hope it stays like it is now. I even spoke to JT about it, and he had no idea why it was happening. As far as I know, you are the only other person this has happened to.

So MIR has a killer track surface, huh? I would like to travel down there sometime. I did not know that it was a real fast track. I thought Island Dragway was the fast track near us. I usually race at Numidia Dragway, and their prep was ok, then a new owner took over, and the prep has been real good. Usually the cars that race at Numidia go about 2-3 tenths quicker at Island, or Etown. Now, at Beaver, the car might ET a tenth or two slower, but, usually MPH a bit more...Go figure.

Tom, what are the differences you noticed from Beaver, to MIR, under similar conditions.

Beaver MPH was awsome, about 2 more than my track - but 1/8 mph was same. I dead hooked first pass - but 60ft was 1.49 compared to 1.42-1.44 at my track - but starting line is slightly uphill soo...
ET seemed down also.. 10.98 first pass.. they prepped 1 time at start of day
and never prepped again! so I spun every pass there after.

MIR it was a hot and very humid day, so D/A was near to my track - it was 3000 something. But first pass I matched my best ever 10.87, with a lower mph 123.5 At local track I went 10.87 @ 126 with D/A around 1300, it was great.. Bested 60ft on first pass 1.41 compared to 1.44 best at local track.

We should have some sort of racers gathering...

Yes, that would be great. I just preformed a manual steering box install on my car, and I have to get it aligned, and also an inspection ASAP. My track was opened way earlier this year, with a new owner and all, and I had went several times after opening day. They opened in March this year. That is an UNHEARD of opening for Numidia. They are always known for opening as late as June, and closing as early as September. So, it has been over two months since I have raced, and I am getting the itch to go real soon. Having a gathering is a great idea. Maybe we can plan one somtime. Do you like Sunday eliminations, or going on Friday nights? Friday nights are great, as you get your moneys worth, and I can make it home early enough to get up for work on Saturday. If i were to go farther than Numidia, or Beaver, it would work better for me on a Sunday, as I am off, and if the car breaks, I call get AAA to get it home. We should definatley plan something.

Speedometer.. Whats that?
When i converted over to the th350 i didnt want to get into all that speed sensor, speedo mess and new cross memeber,so after searching alot i found a couple of posts on these kits .Switch kits: Bulkpart transmission parts
The kit comes with a longer tailshaft for the th350,and extension block you bolt your 700r tailshaft housing to.And wala you can use all your stock stuff.Down fall of the kit is the th350 does have to be pulled apart for the longer tailshaft.I was having mine built anyways .If you have a th350 with a 9 inch tailshaft you could probably just use the extension block and bolt your tailshaft housing to it.Looks like MW66 has you goin in the right direction there on that sensor converter thing..

91Z, Thanks - I have never seen that before! But I already made a
mount extension and had drive shaft made - local guy 3.5" alum for $200
with universals. Think I got it about 1/2 to short though, but it should be ok.
When did you go carbed?! And why?
What was the difference?
See you bested 2 days ago.. good job!
10s in your near future.

BT283
The BBC spun #7 rod bearing after about 9 passes. Not sure what caused it yet.. Going to call machinest now, he said he is covering all damages..
Everything looked salvageable - little concerned about the rod, being the bolts were bent when I removed them.
Crank can be cut, cylinder walls are questionable.
Hope to be together soon, gonna have transbrake this time though I think.

Painless probably has the part you need. I needed one for my 700 because I have a cable driven speedo and needed a electronic pickup for my TC Lockup.

Not trying to hijack the tread or anything but i just wanna know about the TH350 crossmember. I really havent gave it to much thought until now, but what do you need to do to a stock 700r4 xmember to get it to accept a long tailshaft th350 or is there something i can buy cheap for now to mount it with. I just need something that will work for now, because i plan on going to the Sphon Xmember and torque arm setup a little later. thanks

And what was the BBC running before it tore up, any pics of it. I love seeing a BBC in a camaro, it looks stuffed in there.

Hey89!
I was looking for you there - yeah it did rain after first pass.
And they wasted alot of time with the stupid burnout contest - 2 cobalts and A lightning.... and Bikini contest.. 2 girls....
I love seeing half naked girls, but I am there to race - there are enough nude bars on the way home.
We had my friends 2000 there, cam,4:10s and auto w/3500. 12.18 @ 115
E/T radials would not hook him.. 1.82 60, car went 1.67 before cam and my et streets. So he should hit easy 11's with traction.
I would like to see that charged ls1!

I just cut a steel plate 1/8 with ends folded for strength 5 1/2" wide and
3" long.. Trans bolts are 4 3/4 " apart, and drill the same spacing 2" away for trans mount. Worked great for me.

The BBC went 10.0 @ 135 w/1.39 60ft.
on this page there is video - thanks again to Orr89rocz.
There are also pics..

Video - 10.20 @ 133mph

Basically a offspring of your cam. I originally planned to keep the Miniram and all and it ran pretty good with it, 11.10@ 124 /put down 430 to the rears at Carolina Automsters Dyno in early may. Then i just kept having drivabilty issues and crap and felt i was leaving hp on the table. So i switched to a Victor Jr and a AED 950 HO carb.Ran 11.0s out the box at about the same mph w/o changing jets. This sat i went up one jet size and it liked it lol.Ran almost 127.00 with a 11.0 et in 94 degree weather lol.I know im leaving alot of ET on the table with that mph,I run 373s with a 27 inch tall Hoosier QTP and a Coan 4200 stall. It also really liked the 100 hit of gas,Ran 10.69@ almost 133 and this was friday night before i changed carbed jets.Sorry for the long post but i guess it comes down to me not having the patience for the FI anymore. For what its worth the computer actually runs the fuel pump for me and all the factory harness is still in the car incase i get that Miniram bug again.lol
We should meet at MIR one time bro its only a hour ride for me from Richmond.Ive been wanting to go this year anyways.

That combo sounds real stout!!!! 127! thats nice mph! Good job with the carb! glad its working out.. If you decide to go back to M/R I will be glad to help with any prom issues!
I would like to meet up alot! Always wanted to see your car in action
as well as Brutal forms (Tom), and some others M66s, maybe orrroc can find time.
MIR is about 5.5 from me.. How is cecil for you? I hear that track is a little faster. You just can't make fun of how much nicer your car is than mine!!!
lol.. That thing took a beating this last year, it was about perfect prior..
Mysterious dents while parked in garage, Drove it into a pine tree in my yard while intoxicated soo that scratched nose pretty well... then had stocker wheels on front, while backing off my ramps nose cought ramp and drug it under car till it stopped and car did not - almost ripping it off..
Engine bay looks like shi! all of a sudden...
Still looks good, just needs a little care.
You make me want to throw other converter in! But doubt that will happen,
I need it for Camaro.. Maybe I can sell my TCI 3800 from the th700 and buy
another one..
But with that 3 speed I will need to keep a tighter one in it for street.

MIR is around 15 hours and Cecil is like 18 hours for me, lol...maybe we could all hook up at Virginia Motorsports Park, that's only like 12 hours from my house...lol!

actually, in all seriousness, once the trailer is bought, i'll be making it up to the NE area alot with the car. gonna try to run with the OSCA some whenever the trailer is purchased...it just may be a little while.

Ya im happy with the carb so far.I came real close to asking you for your help on a prom, but i hate to bug the **** outta peeps with my probs.I made out pretty well on the sell of my miniram and stuff anyways. Dont worry about me makin fun of your car lol Mine is starting get a bit beatin up its self,The 1991 red is starting to loose its shine on the roof, fin and hood louvers. Also had a incident with my front fascia as well with my new car trailer backing it off, put a nice crack in it.Ya that pissed me off lol.
As far as converters go,I wouldnt be scared to go to a 4000-4500 Coan Converter like mine, its a 8 inch but you can do a 10inch with the same stall even cheaper .That will help you make up for that 2.76 first gear the th350 has,and ill tell ya mine is nice and tight on the street .It feels like a 3k stall.I think cecil would be a 2.5 to 3hr trip for me ,But i have a trailer so i could manage it.

Is that cam a new profile offered by TPIS? The catalog I've got only has a 700-702, (248/248), like 87_TAs. How much did the cam cost, if you dont mind me asking? I would imagine they are probably more than the $395.00 they were asking. I plan on ditching my 232/246, 114* cam this winter. I need a cam with a base cut. Your car runs awesome, BTW! A great looking car too.

Yep its there latest profile, its on there website.I will say its a pulllin **** up top,i shift my car at 7200 and its still pulling. It maybe the AFR 210 heads and stud girdle i have now but on the dyno i pulled it up to 7400 and it still had about 428 RWHP.And this was with the MR,dunno what it might have now,I figure 30-40 hp more maybe with the carb? And was all thru a non lock up 8 inch high stall converter. It also is not to much more choppier than the ZZX cam i used to run. Thanks for the Props on my ride,You got a pretty nice Bird yourself!

Thanks 11sec. I'm ditching the S/R on mine, and going with a Victor EFI, and a 1350 single 4bbl T/B. I already have the T/B. I keep having the Kpas drop at WOT, with the S/R. I am definatley leaving power on the table. The S/R will most likely be going up for sale in the fall. Only thing though, its modified to fit a large runner head. Knowing what I know now, I would not even put a S/R on anything larger than a 406, just my . I might look into the 700-703 a bit further. thanks for the info.
