Got back to the track yesterday.

My car continues to confuse me. I made 3 runs back to back after driving 35 miles to the track. The weather was 89* with 100% humidity. For once I was having a hard time hooking up (as was everyone else) and my water temp was rising quickly... after the 3rd pass I was nearing 200* all times are on spray.

First pass:
60' --- 1.766
330 --- 4.910
1/8 --- 7.536 @ 93.76
1000' --- 9.798
1/4 --- 11.718 @ 117.59

Second pass:
60' --- 1.853
330 --- 5.017
1/8 --- 7.623 @ 94.16
1000 --- 9.880
1/4 --- 11.794 @ 117.69

Third pass:
60' --- 1.726
330 --- 4.851
1/8 --- 7.471 @ 93.89
1000 --- 9.727
1/4 --- 11.665 @ 116.47

I dunno why but regardless of 60ft my car just always seems to run 11.60-11.70's. I think the new cam (XE274 to NX274) definately gave me some more power though... My theory is that if I could have hooked up and hit 1.5x's the car would have definately been in the 11.20-11.30's. The MPH is there, and the 60fts used to be there.

I'm still too lazy to even play with the jets in the carb. The car always seems to surge on the top end. A few times the car has completely lost power and just started "stuttering" as it crossed the finish line but yesterday it was just slightly surging... Still gotta figure out whats up with that.

Anyway, out of no where it started thundering and lightning in the distance and sure enough it began raining harder than I've ever seen before. It literally had to of rained over an inch in less than 10 minutes. That made for a very fun ride home on the Hoosier QTP's and foggy windows.

surging could be due to loss of fuel pressure.

Either that, or he's draining the fuel bowls.

Update the sig!

Yea, you definitely have more in it but you better start tweaking the carb to get some better 60's or you won't be getting the times that you want...When do you plan on going back down? I am going to shoot for this Friday coming up..

i bet you $1 that if you put some sfc's in it that it would launch straight and react MUCH quicker than it does now...watch them 60's drop like flies then!

my traction problems were mainly due to the fact that Atco set up stupid cones on the starting line when the T&T cars run.... These cones are strategically placed so that you cannot line up in the freshly prepped groove. My car has hit 1.5x 60fts in the dead of winter on multiple occasions so it has plenty of traction so long as I don't get treated like a fwd honda when I'm lining up at the track

Some tuning is definately in order but I think even in its current state if I coulda hooked the car woulda been needing a roll bar. I'm also beginning to wonder how bad my crappy Blowmaster American Thunder cat-back is holding me back...

With my old 3" FM system, I picked up one tenth, and one MPH, just switching to a Dynomax UltraFlow muffler!

This was my first track outting with the new cam and I didn't get a chance to run it on motor but it feels pretty much the same as with the old cam. Maybe not as snappy off the line but everywhere else feels the same. My main problem is that I rarely get to go to the track... I should probably find myself a chassis dyno to get it atleast close to where it should be. I'll be real happy with 11.20's or better.
