New best today, 9.73 @ 139.77!

Went to track today,
Tried to launch off 2-step.. but did not fair soo well, soon as I let loose it broke up real bad 1st and 1/2 of second and cleared up for remaining??
Any transbarkers have any Idea, thought maybe loading up.. remaining passes did not use 2 step.

Second pass,
Transbrake @ 4000
1.40
9.89 @ 138.0

Third pass,
transbrake @ 4200
1.39
9.84 @ 138.91

Fourth pass,
transbrake @ 4400 wheels flying high again! pops was trying to record with Cameras and forgot to open lense!! wtf!!
1.37
9.73 @ 139.77

After second pass, advanced timing to 38 degrees and put 100 jets back in..
Car seemd to like..
They were going to have a wheelie contest - but did not want to wait 3 hrs to enter.. Believe I could have won that..
Probably last race day, less I decide to travel Maryland in 2 weeks - could happen.

Fun going 140 mph isn't it

I should turn off my 2 step some day and launch right off the converter at 6000 just to see what happens. I only launch at 4500.

Thanks alot guys!
I was really pumped! Still more in it I think...
That pass I actually shifted late around 7800 from second, though maybe the car liked it - but it felt like it dropped off.

Orr89,
Turnout was good, really did not want to pay either but you can't pass up those conditions!
Steven,
I am still just throttling to 4400 with out 2 step, gotta figure out what problem is though.. If I get it launching off 2 step well, I may go for 5500.
Going 140 is fun, but stopping is not! lol.. especially with that transbrake valvebody there is no engine brake, that really makes a difference.
going to figure out some disc for rear I think. should
shave alot of weight also, being those 13" drums weigh 28lbs each.

tta,
Man I would love to come to englishtown!! thats a spot I wanna hit
but probably with the Trans am.. Probably going to go to MIR in next couple if everything works out. 5hrs vs 8hrs..

I still have the factory 10.5" front disk brakes and those need to go this winter. I think I'm going to install some Aerospace drag race front disk brakes this winter. My rear brakes are Ford 11 x 2-1/4 drums. Maybe not as good as disk brakes but much better than factory Chev drums. Aerospace makes a nice rear disk setup also. I considered using LS1 or Corvette C4 front brakes but they're heavy.

13" drums? I thought third gen drums were only 10 x 1-1/2"?

your running a 9 inch ford rear right? try gettin some explorer disk brakes. i believe they are 11inch rotors. should make for a nice swap. thats what alot of 9inch packages use.
Currie Enterprises Racing Rear End Categories

but i bet you could get fbody brakes to work. either Ls1's or LT1 style brakes. cuz spohn sells 9inches from moser that can use fbody brakes

match that with LS1 fronts which should fit well under 15inch rims

Funny you said that!
I just come from reading a car craft about explorer disc swap
on 9" housing ends. lol!
I think I am going to use LT1 rear brakes.. easy mount to make, and fit wheels well with minimal grinding. JJ want $70 I think for factory mounts, calipers and rotors.. Just gonna use the factory mounts to
make one to fit 9".

I was also thinking, If I had the money I could shave about 80+ pound from just that rear.. Alum case, LW ring gear, alum spool, disc, if you really want to lose, gun drilled axles.. for even more weight.

But losing 35+ from just the brakes will do for me..

I've got an aluminum spool but don't have the aluminum case yet. As much as I'd like a Moser or MW bolt through case, I'll probably cheap out and just get the Strange one.

I don't think the aluminum spool will make a huge difference. The steel spool doesn't weigh much.

4lbs I believe,
Not much, but rotating weight is good weight..
I have the steel, actually ordered the Aluminum but summit tech gave me the steel.. So I figured same as you, not that much difference and kept it.
Not to mention I was on a time crunch.
