I ran those exact head on a 355 sbc with at .525 .525 cam on a 110 and i ran 12.1's i think with a better cam you could have alot more potential. I was fuel injected with a stealthram.

do you think a cam with a 108 lsa would be ok with power brakes.

the LSA is not what determines if you can run power brakes or not.. its the duration.. i barely had power brakes with a 110 LSA.. but my duration was 248* @.050".. now i run a 110LSA with 260*@.050" lift.. power brakes are not even an option, i have to run an electric vacuum pump to make things slow down..

i've run 250/260 duration cams on 106 lsa with a vacuum canister, so it's not always a set number

It’s up to the total overlap… for example, a lot of OEM truck cams have a 109LSA and they work fine with power brakes, plenty of vacuum, but they also have fairly small lobes in general so there isn’t much overlap no matter how you space them.

Re: new build

With a cam and head comgo that big you will have to shift some where around 7200 - 7500 rpm you are going to need a good converter and at least a 4.10 gear. stock rods as long as thay ar X rods or GM pink rods would be ok but stock rod bolts im not sure I would try and spin the motor up with them. I have always used ARP bolts in the stock roded motors and now I just order eagle sir rods or scat I beams.

Re: new build

finally went to the track today sorta upset i definatly need new rearend gears.

first run bogged off the line and it went into second by itself at 5000rpm and second to third the same rpm i think i need to mess with the weights and springs in the tranny. went through the trap at 3800rpm.

60" 2.405
1/8 9.30
1/4 14.13
mph 101

second run bumped the timing up and took the vacuum hose off the tranny cause i thaught i could get some more rpm's out off it. it took off ok shifted into first at 5000rpm again and it held second all the way to the finish went through the trap at 6200rpm didnt even need to shift into third.

60"2.154
1/8 8.9
1/4 13.75
mph 104.65

i need to get some new gears i was hoping for 12's just for now to get it to shift at 6300rpm from first to second should i just change the weights in the govoner i want to race at the chevy show next weekend and want to get some more out of it.

1987 iroc camaro gutted, 4" harwood cowl lift off, lakewood 90/10 struts lakewood 50/50 shocks, battery relocated to rear, b@m pro stick shifter, weld pro stars 15x6 in front 15x8 in rear, hoosier quick time pro 26/10.5/15,

355ci
dart iron eagle 215cc platinum heads with 64 cc chambers with guide plates, isky 507/507 lift 247/247
.50 lift with 108 lsa, victor jr intake ,holley 650dp choke horn milled, 1.5 roller rockers, moroso tall valve covers, hyper flat top pistons with 4 valve relief, stock rods, eagle crank, 1 5/8 longtube headers with 2 1/2 pipe and dynomax race bullets, turbo 400 trans with b@m shift kit and unknown 3500 stall, all with a stock 10 bolt that will blow up the first time down the track LOL.

Re: new build

not sure on gears but must be pretty low. if i can get my trans to shift out of first at 6500rpm and lower my 60's down do you think i can get a low 13 dont have the money right now to get new gears. also is 104mph fast for a 13.7 what mph does it take to run a high 12.

time to pull the rear cover and change the fluid anyways, then find out what number is stamped on the ring gear to determine gear ratio. every .1 taken off the 60' is typically .2 taken off the ET. Also, my old 305 ran 13.0 at 103mph, so a 104 "should" be good for high 12s if your combo was matched, which it isn't with this salt flat gears.

Re: new build

even if i do manually shift it it still will go into second on its own it shifts at 5000rpm by itself and yes the cable is adusted right. but i just got done changing the weights in the govoner and now it shifts at 6600rpm. So the reason im not running any faster is beacuse of the gears not being able to get me a good 60'
