Battery in trunk

Hey guys I am mounting my battery in the trunk and I have a few questions. I have the sealed Moroso battery box as well as the Moroso disconnect switch mounted on the rear of my car. I have a few questions about wiring:

What size wire did you run?
Did you run it underneath the car or inside the car?
What did you do for the ground?

I am just curious before I tackle this project, as I would prefer to do it right the first time...

Re: Battery in trunk

I ran '0' gauge inside the car to the starter and '4' gauge inside to the back of the engine. I also have grounds to the frame. Hopefully others will comment if that isn't enough.

Re: Battery in trunk

got the summit wiring kit which actually is taylor's wiring kit. Worked out fine for me for 1/3rd the cost. Ran 6 guage from the alternator back to the battery, and ran the switch through the taillight.

Re: Battery in trunk

I used a Moroso box too and mounted my disconnect switch in the black plastic piece in the tail light. I used 1 guage from the battery to the starter and 4 gauge to the Alternator. I put a ground at the rear of the car near the switch and ran a 1 gauge ground to the engine using one of the holes in the rear of the head. I also used a braided ground strap(similar to the stock one) from the head to a stud on the firewall. Probably over kill on the grounds but I've never had a problem. My wires are ran inside the car under the plastic on the passenger side hatchback to the rear seat area. The wires go under the carpet from there and pass through the body at the hump under the passenger seat in the front(using rubber grommets of course). Thats the cleanest route I could find for my wires, they are only visible if you crawl under the car, all the wires on the interior are hidden.

Re: Battery in trunk

2 gauge ran under the car, from battery to starter. Two grounds, one comes off of the battery and is connected where the 3/8 bolts run through for the hold down. 2nd is from the engine to the front framerail. BTW the 2 gauge is HI-strand, you can run a smaller gauge wire if you are willing to spend a little more for the wire, rather that using thick strand wire (welding cables).
