1st post on this site

I have been hanging around a while here and putting together an 86 z-28.
I recently got a g-tech pro rr and tried a few runs and am wondering about the accuracy of this thing. Mods are in my signature. Next on the list will be trying to find some traction in this car, and learning how to launch it. Thanks Stan
First run
60' 2.601
330' 6.089
1/8m 8.694@98.55
1000' 10.841
60mph 4.877
1/4 12.596@130.09?
2nd run
60' 2.274
330' 5.777
1/8 8.513@93.87
1000' 10.776
60mph 4.709

Re: 1st post on this site

12.6@130? even with a terrible 60' that sounds a lil far fetched.

121mph is good for low low 11s

I'd bet money that the ET might be close the mph is off for sure. They always read 3-5mph higher than the track would, but those numbers sure seem way off. The mid 12s is doable from your sig combo though.

Re: 1st post on this site

The accuracy depends on the data inputed. If you don't have the correct weight, you'll get a false HP reading. Weight is total weight. Car, driver, fuel etc.

As for the accuracy of a run, they're very close in ET. You'll find the mph isn't the same as a 1/4 mile dragstrip time because the dragstrip uses a calculation to get the mph. The G-tech would be closer to exact but it's only good if you're comparing against another g-tech.

You've got terrible 60' times for a mid 12 second car and your mph is way too high for a mid 12 second car. My guess is that you don't have the proper data in the G-tech. From your sig, there's no way you're putting out that much power without some kind of power adder.

Re: 1st post on this site

i wouldn't expect better than a 2.2 60' on the street without him knowing how to launch the car. Take it to the track and then report back how it really moves out.

Re: 1st post on this site

I entered 3500lbs for vehicle weight, I don't know how accurate that is, but it shouldn't affect et or speed calculations should it? The hp reading on the 1st run was 427.6@5206rpm and tq was456.8@4426rpm. The second run was 371.5 hp @3838rpm and 512.2 tq @3770rpm The car currently has some crap tires on the back and traction is hard to find, also the trans slips a lot going into second, I am pulling the trans within the next week or 2 and getting it rebuilt and beefed up so hopefully the shifts will be better and of course a new torque converter , and then I plan on replacing the rearend with a ford 9" or a 12 bolt any recommendations as to which would be better would be appreciated, then a trip to the track is in order. I am a little nervous about taking it to the track as is for fear of having to be towed home

HP and torque are greatly affected by weight inputted. ET and MPH are fairly accurate, as they're based on inertial effects. They often don't match track data because roll-out isn't factored in, and the track averages speed over the last 66' while the g-tech is the instantaneous value at 1/4 mile.
