12's are sooooo close!
Went to the track last night for the street/grudge night. Fresh off the road she ran a 13.18 at 108, let her sit a little while and launched different, 13.0 at 108. Added some jet, same thing, disconnected the front sway bar, same. I ended up running the same time 5 times in a row, which is cool, but I wanted a 12. Still not to shabby for the TINY cam.
Heres the best slip:
R/T.... .569
60'..... 2.018
330.... 5.580
1/8.... 8.463
MPH... 85.51
1000.. 10.936
1/4.... 13.019
MPH... 108.27
I guess it's time for a real converter and some tires now.

Your MPH should get you WELL into the 12's. Get some tires! You won't regret it.

Tires are a must, but I've got to get into this rear end soon. It's starting to whine pretty bad and I don't have another set of 3.73's laying around.
Anywhere good for buying tires online? Tirerack?

I hear good things about Tirerack, you may be able to go somewhere local and get tires ordered in. I would go with the ET Street Radials if you really want to get that thing moving.

Went to the 1/8 mile track to watch a friend and ended up getting some lightly used ET Street radials on wheels for 150$. Hopefully make it to the track this week.
What kind of burnout and psi should I run with them?

start with 17 pounds, you'll probably end up going down; I wouldn't drop below 12 and don't forget to air them back up before you leave. Alot of guys say to do big burnouts on the ET Street radials but I've never had luck doing that it just glazes them, I'de say spin them over in the water for a just a few seconds then let the car roll out of the water, when you feel it bite down ease out and head up to the line.

Agree. All you want to do with a "burn out" is to clean and dry the tires.

My 10 bolt is pretty F'd now.
Well, maybe not if I fix the backlash and put in a solid pinion spacer. Supreme Member

ok, first thing i saw in this thread was the 60ft.. and everyone has it covered.. tires..
idk if it was just me, but the radials didnt do it for me.. granted i have a manual car, they just sucked at the track.. 1.81 best 60ft.. on the street, i would burn them almost through first and do a healthy chirp in second.. *shrug*
but anyway, get those 60ft's into the 1.7's and you can have a 12.8, maybe faster..

Re: 12's are sooooo close!
ET Street Radials are not a bias ply tire and do not require the lower psi that you might think. i run 20psi in mine and run 1.6x 60's. i do a quick 1st-2nd roll out burnout. also, because of the radial design, they do not have the softer sidewall required to handle the drivetrain shock of a manual car.
do not do a burnout in the water. i drive around the water box as to not get water in the front tires that i might drag up to the line. i back into the water box and spin them lightly to get them wet. the burnout is actually done on a dry spot about 3 feet in front of the water. this will keep water out of the grooves of the et street radials.

Re: 12's are sooooo close!
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I can't go to the track until I find a tach that'll work with my 6al box, I have to shift manually because the trans shifts at 4800 and the motor likes 6000.
Now I have to save for a converter, stock tc's suck.

worst comes to worst you could always run a 13.0 index class and mop up the floor

And being a radial design, they tend to "cup up" in the center on lower pressure, decreasing the tire footprint. Too low and you are running on the outer edges of the tire, which can get squirrely. I started mine off (MT ET Street Radials) at 30 psi, dropped it incrementally until the 60' stopped getting better. My sweet spot was around 26 psi. Fully optioned '89 Formula w/auto, BW 3.27. 3650# race weight.

especially with those particular MT's..the compound is so soft you could pick chucks off the tire with you're finger.
