NHRA Roll Bar Rule
Ok now that Im putting a real motor in my car and will have a way better setup my car is going to be running way faster. Before with the 305 and old setup it ran in the high 13's and now I will be possibly in the 12's or faster and I was wondering what the definitive NHRA rule is on when you need a roll bar on a t-top car I have heard anywhere from 10.99 to 12.99 I would also like to know the time cut off for 1/8 mile as well. I hate to put a bar in my car but if I have to I might or ill go to a track a little farther away that is privately run and the cut-off is 9.99 for everything that or I may get away with it on my local 1/8 mile track even though its an NHRA track.

A t-top car is in the same classification has a hardtop. You need a minimum of a 5 point roll bar at 11.49 (7.50). Most people put in the passenger side bar for a 6 point. The roll bar is good to 10.00 (6.50) as long as the floor and firewall have been unmodified. Doing a back half is not considered a floor modification.
A full cage is required at 9.99 (6.49) and quicker

Re: NHRA Roll Bar Rule
I had heard a rumor that they changed the rule and a T-top was now a convertible but believe me Im glad to hear the cut-off is 11.49 Im hoping to be in the 12's so Ill be ok and I dont see my '82 getting down to 11.49 ever so its all good. Now the '68 camaro thats a different story and it will see the 10's but its getting a full cage so its all good.

Re: NHRA Roll Bar Rule
Check with your local track. I have heard too that some tracks are considering a t-top as a convertible. But NHRA/IHRA considers a t-top just like a regular hard top.
