Im constantly in discussions with my buddy that has an awd dsm. The fastest dsm is John Shepherds at 7.6 at 191 mph. His car is currently torn apart because it feels unsafe. It also looks mostly stock except for the slicks. Now I know our cars cannot go faster than mid 9's without some beefy rubbers. Now I give the guy credit, thats fast for a turbo four cylinder! But in no way does it beat a radical v8 camaro. The fastest camaro I have seen on the internet is 6.7 seconds at 205 mph. Over in the middle east somewhere. Some oil king's son or something. Ive met a lot of awd guys around and cant wait to race em. My car will be around 700-800hp. I get questions like...is that it? Sheesh.
Give me some fuel for the fire guys!!!

it would be just slightly slower than my car
What a weird question.

What a weird question.
Sorry I was drinking and got into it deep with this guy. I really want to punch people in the face when they badmouth v8s. It takes some modesty for me to respect four cylinder turbos, and when they dont return that I become irate. I dont care too much that your car is making 200hp per Liter. Still feels slow to me. That should never be the basis for any argument except for Nagashi Hamammitsu that engineered the engine. Thumbs up to him. Ultimately it comes down to personal preference. Instant power vs an anticipated kick in the *** at 4500 rpms. The best of both worlds is what I find amazing. High displacement with turbo. It appears your planning on heading this direction xpndbl3. Im starting to peice together some ideas.

The world's fastest thirdgen was over 300 miles per hour at Bonneville.
Uses a stock mid-to-late 1980s GTA body and rear spoiler (updated with '91-'92 nose) and chassis with 1000+ horsepower V-8 engine (turbocharged).
I don't think it is Gale Banks' but someone elses.
The quickest thirdgen is a different question.

Kugel & LaFevers built this car, it was a 91 with an 87-90 spoiler on it.Originally Posted by jms
