Rear shocks
I was wondering is the lakewood 50/50 rear shocks are good on the street or not. The car is street/strip and I am more concerned with traction instead of cornering but dont want to sacrfice to much. Any input on front struts and rear shocks for good traction but still a little bit of driveability is appreciated. Thanks

Re: Rear shocks
i run lakewood 90/10s up front and they're awesome at the strip, but they pretty soft for street driving.

Re: Rear shocks
i had lakewood 50/50's in the rear of my 89 and it drove like stock on the street but those plus LCA's (cheapy lakewoods) drop my 60 ft .2 on regular street tires, not to mention the car stopped wheel hopping. You can actually run fox body mustang strange 10 way adjustables on an fbody and they only cost $70 a piece!

Re: Rear shocks
Thanks for the replies. A question about those mustang adjustable shocks. Are there any modifications when using them? Do you know the exact model number? Will it be the correct size so there is no change in ride height or anything like that or is it pretty much a direct bolt in job? I like the fact that I have the power to adjust for street in strip with the same price tag.
Thanks again.

Re: Rear shocks
As far as i know, there is no modifications to run them in an F-body. There is only one part number for a 79-93 mustang strange 10 way shock, so there shouldnt be any confusion.

Re: Rear shocks
Thanks for the replies. I might just go with the lakewood 50/50's but if someone definitly knows the strange fit directly in with no problems then I might go with the strange. Do they actually have the same fully extended and compressed lenght I couldnt find that info? Also a little tough to put a mustang part on my car lol. Thanks again

Re: Rear shocks
t-bird shocks would be the right length, we used to do that with Koni's for autox because they were slightly softer and worked better than the f-body ones (which worked better for road racing). Strange might not have a separate t-bird part number which would make the mustang ones next closest.

Re: Rear shocks
83 Crossfire TA you said t-bird would be the right length so those are not? will that effect ride height? Thats what im mainly concerned about. I know wheelsup84z said someone had them on here but who knows there car could be all jacked up in the back as well though. If any one has extended and collapsed measurements for them that would be awesome. Thanks

Re: Rear shocks
Alright I talked to strange today and found out the dimensions of the shocks. Fully extended is 19.3 and collapsed is 13.0 for the mustang 10 ways. I also found out what the lakewood 50/50's are and they are 20.13 extended and 12.050 collapsed. So I would lose a little over 3/4's of an inch in extension and pretty much an inch when collapsed. So thats about almost two inches of travel. Im not a big shock expert so I dont know if this is a problem or it is no big deal if someone would let me know what they think about the travel it would be much appreciated. Thanks guys.

Re: Rear shocks
how often does your rear drop down 6" or so while driving? I don't see losing an inch at extension being an issue
Jack up the car by the lca mount in front and see how far the rear drops that would never happen while driving.

Re: Rear shocks
WRT to the length... I wouldn't be suprised if you saw more of a difference going from one manufacturor to the next with the same application.
The bigger difference is the dampening rate. Mustangs tend to run lighter and have a slightly more advantagious shock mounting point than f-bodies, which is the reason to go with the t-bird shocks... they're closer than mustangs, even though they're still softer than f-body shocks.
