What can i do with 550whp?

Nitrous will be added to the 383 in a few weeks. I hope it comes in this upcoming week and by the 17th i hope to make a pass on it provided the tune is good and i can get time to tune it.

150 shot rated at the wheels will give me close to 550whp

Somehow i hope i can rig up the window switch on the ignition box to engage the nitrous instead of the WOT switch since my poor 10 bolt probly will not like the launch

Doesnt matter, the car doesnt hook as it sits so more power probly will just spin it off

I plan to roll off the line to keep traction and have it engage sometime after initial launch just incase it does hook

Car made 400whp and ran 11.47 at 118.5 so far on a 1.55 60 foot. I think it weighs 3450 with me in it.

Any predictions? I wanna guess 10.6's at 128

well I know one thing you can do.....spin the tires lol
If it hooks as good as it did before and nothing breaks, your guess is pretty good

What ever it runs it ought to be a good number. I wouldnt take the nitrous off the WOT switch. I might would add a switch to cut it on and off. I would hit it in 2nd gear to save the rear.

Re: What can i do with 550whp?

550rwhp would be niiiiice... 125rwhp more than i had last time out, and it went a 10.14@131. 3050# raceweight.

what "shot size" are you planning on? i know that a "135 shot" will put around 85 extra rwhp down on my car. i guess for me to get 150 at the tire i would need a 200ish shot? ill have to get some play time in on the dyno sometime soon to see.

Re: What can i do with 550whp?

the kit is suppose to be rated at 150 hp at the tires. my car is sitting on about 400whp now. ASSUMING the kit is correct which i can see it being off the mark, i expect in the ball park of 500-575 whp depends on what it actually sprays. I assume 550 wheel hp for now as i can see the kit giving me near 150whp depending on the tune.

My buddy has sprayed a 150 shot kit before and made 121whp on it, so i should be in the 520-550whp range.

Reguardless, the car should have some ballz!!

I might would add a switch to cut it on and off. I would hit it in 2nd gear to save the rear.
this isnt a bad idea as first gear right now goes by very very fast as it is. 4000 off the line and then hits 6500 before you know it. If i was somehow able to turn on the activation switch at the time i hit second gear, that may work correct? since its at WOT, the activation should start spraying right away

who made your nitrous kit? did your buddies car have an unlocked automatic or a manual trans?

I have a prediction!! Lots of fun man!
When did you hit 40's? I missed that post.. congrats man! I will guess your car will respond well.. If you suffer anywhere, it still on the intake side, nitrous is more effective on an ineffecient car. Being you still have some opportunity there, I think it will only help alot.
Well right now I have your FWHP at 457 for 118.5 MPH, another 150 will give you 607ish at FW and can yield you 10.4 @ 130, being you will not be effective enough out of the gate, I would guess you probably about right..
130mph though maybe.
Now get a rear, bigger tire and have huge fun leaving the line with

Re: What can i do with 550whp?

my nitrous kit will be ordered monday, its gonna be Harris Speed Works single nozzle kit. Located in PA, they do some good nitrous kit work for good prices. Alot of ppl have used them over on camaroz28.com and have nothing but good things to say.

My buddies car i want to say was open converter as i think it was a th350 trans but i dont remember. it could have been a lockup 700r4 at that time but i'm not sure

When did you hit 40's? I missed that post
Yep, happened this past wednesday at test and tune. look a few posts down there it will be vid too.
i hooked decent enough to go 1.55 60 foot but i feel it will do high 1.4's once i can really get it launching hard off the converter or possibly flash it. Last run i flashed it and the car seemed to want to leave much harder but spun the tires again to a 1.62 60 and ended up running 11.53 so it would have been a good pass if it hooked thats for sure. I cant wait to try nitrous tho.

I'm curious to try a new intake, something like a converted single plane EFI setup to see if the HSR is holding me back or not. BUT i am hoping to go turbo next year. should be fun either way

As far as 130mph goes, didnt you run a 150 shot and go 133? you were going 125 n/a so i dont think i'll be that fast

I was ran 123 N/A the day I ran 133, it was a 125hp hit running very rich
seeing about 119hp at flywheel.
The car bested 126 N/A, But generally ran 122-124. Also the faster you go, the more you need to get there. I am saying if you get 150 FW, I think you can trap 130 or very close. If you want to MPH real nice, you might try a chip that forces lock around 120mph. I can't remeber where your peak power is though and gear, are you still 3.42's?

Yeah, as long as you put the switch inline with the wot switch, once you hit the switch and your at WOT it will spray.

I can't keep from creeping deeper into the staging beams with more than 2500 rpm and foot braking. My TCI Street Fighter ( 11") is rated for 1500 over stock so I imagine I should be able to stall at about 3500 rpm.
It easily flashes to that and more and then traction becomes and issue.

TCC lockup solenoid correct? set it to some mph you want and have the voltage signal come from that?

yep still have 3.42's. peak power on motor is at 6300 rpms, i shift by 6500. I havent tried locking up converter at all yet. The L98 didnt like locking it up so kept it open for this motor too so far

I foot brake to like 2000 rpms anymore as it will creep on me. I think i've been able to hit 2400 but i dont remember. I honestly dont look But the 3600 stall i have basically flashes to about 4000 rpm instantly. On green and when i mash it, its basically leaving at near 4000rpm and first gear flys by fast when it hooks

Yeah, if peak is that high and still 3.42 gear it probably won't like it. But I bet the l89 would have if locked at right time. I did use the tcc output for nos activation, use force lock-up function for MPH you want it to come on at.
But you have to run it through a relay first of else it won't work. to much ground draw on ecm.

Re: What can i do with 550whp?

I may have to try that lockup stuff

i just found out today i broke a torque converter to flexplate bolt. snapped it clean in half and it was still suck in the converter. Vibrated and made noise like before so i checked it today and expected to just tighten the bolts but NO it had to be difficult and i had to play "lets extract a broke off bolt".

Got it out but i cant understand how i would brake 1 bolt while the others are tight. Only explaination is the flexplate "flexed" and snapped one bolt while the others held. haha they call it a flexplate for a reason i guess.

I hope the nitrous torque doesnt sheer off the bolts. This is ridiculous. All this car does is break off bolt heads. I have one broke off in the head for accessory bracket, and another valve cover bolt i tightened alittle too hard but i didnt think it was that hard... just a cheap bolt. Pisses me off

Probably when they were loose that one was taking the most TQ.
On my flexplate, 2 holes are sorta ovaled and one is real tight. I am sure to allow for small missalignment.

Re: What can i do with 550whp?

yeah my bolt holes are ovaled and i'm not sure if thats from loose bolts before and still runing the car or if thats the design. the one bolt broke off and the other two were tight. I was able to back out the bolt once i put a slot in it with dremel tool and small cutoff wheel. however the flexplate bolt hole was not aligned with the torque converter bolt hole, so i loosened the other two to get it lined up. Now its fine but i hate braking bolts

Anyway i am gonna read up on my window switch thats built into the mallory 685 box. Maybe i can use that to turn nitrous on. Gotta read up on the timing retard function too so it pulls a few degrees when nitrous goes on. Should be fun stuff when it all works out
