I need to get my 1989 Iroc Z 350v8 ready for the Drag Strip on May 3rd. I want to install rear end gears and get slicks. I was thinking about maybe chipping the car, but im not sure.

Any ideas on some mods ( under $1k or $2k total ) i have a custom exhaust already, other than that it's stock.

 

subframe connectors are a must. Based on your engine combo possible 3.73 gears or 3.42. Along with a higher stall torque converter. Port the heads, possibly a new cam. You could do quite a bit for under 2000

 

Stall converter and suspension mods. Leave the gears alone if it's TPI. Get everything you need to start doing your own chips. Make sure it has a recent tune up, and the fuel pump is healthy. You're on the right track buying a set of tires.

 

SFC and slicks then go racing.
