It doesn't really matter. You're trying to compare apples to oranges. The majority of the time, when I'm at the track, I have no idea who or what car is beside me. I just race.

Chances are, you're going to lose. The fox body has a huge weight advantage over a third gen so they don't need as much power to go just as fast.

Re: another camaro vs stang
My brothers '83 fox weighed about 400 less than my '85 Z28, when both were stock, but now I have done about 300 pounds of weight reduction to help even things out. My car when it was stock weighed 3,260lbs, my brothers fox weighed 2,8xxlbs, but it had very few options, no A/C, four speed manual... about the only options it has is GT and T-tops.

Re: another camaro vs stang
Not that it matters since genital size will remain the same after the race as they were before, but i'll take the rustang for the simple fact: auto tranny
All these years i'me yet to see anybody consistently hit all the gears all the time...there's ALOT of margin for error and manual drivers always seem to exploit it LOL!! Then there's the whole issue of the stick guy even getting it off the line consistantly hooking....

Re: another camaro vs stang
my buddy has 5spd convertible mustang with stock heads, a very tiny cam, and all the other basic boltons and a set of nitto drag radials. It's been 13.0 on motor and well into the 12's on a small shot of spray. What I'm trying to say here is... a 5.0 Mustang responds much better to basic modifications than a 3rd gen's 5.7TPI motor. In the end a chevy motor (at it's core) is superior but when it comes to the "bolt-on" type cars the Mustang will win.
If your buddy has aftermarket heads he most likely also has an aftermarket cam so that car could easily be in the 12's whereas your camaro would be lucky to run 13's.

Re: another camaro vs stang
So wait does he have aftermarket heads or not? It sounds like a close race but I have to give it to the Mustang. The auto gives him less chance to make a mistake and its lighter. Godd luck and let us know the outcome.
