is anyone using these with results they can report? bmr makes a set similar, as does a couple other companies. they mount the spring/shock in the stock shock location and use a reinforcement plate up top to help with the extra load...but i was always under the impression that you wanted to put the coilovers behind the axle.

wolfe racecraft thinner diameter springs with their kit and shocks in stock position works fine for every minitub'd vehicle I've seen. If you're going to bother buying expensive shocks get double adjustable ones IMO.

 

i'll look at that kit next. i want to drop my car even lower, and have more adjustability.

 

get the wolfe adjustable kit and some double adjustable shocks. the AFCO shocks just came down in price. this way you'll be pretty well set for good on that aspect of the rear suspension. not sure what the rest of what you're running is tho

 

you must be planning on flying soon since I still haven't found the limit of my 90/10s and 50/50 rears.... On my wish list is definitely the wolfe kit with the smaller springs, maybe this winter we'll see how the job market picks up. I dropped the nose more and killed my weight transfer so watch how low you drop it.

You really aren't going to be able to lower it much with that kit. The springs will allow you some adjustment but, they are intended to operate with a certain amount of travel. In other words, they aren't going to allow you to lower it far enough to bottom out the shock without negative results. Those shocks have a target height for extention of the piston. You would need a coil-over type bracket to get the amount of adjustment you are wanting. I don't know if there is room in front of the axle for that kind of bracket.

 

how much more do you plan on dropping it? I don't feel comfortable dropping mine anymore than it is and still being able to street drive it without rubbing on the inner tubs.

that picture has no springs in it...actually the torque arm came in contact with the tunnel there, so i'm going to cut the tunnel and box it a little to have more clearance (i hate the big moser 9" TA mounting location) and still had plenty of clearance on the tire.

I still highly doubt that had "plenty" of clearance to go up...what are you talking an inch of suspension travel?

 

that's a 29x9...maybe what i'm trying to do is futile without backhalfing the car, which i'm not willing to do...

my car doesn't squat though, it does quite the opposite...maybe it will if it's this low though? cutting tires is not an option, lol.

i really only want to do this for the look...i may just gut a set of junk rear springs and cut them and run them around town, then put what i have back in for the track cause my car 60's great now...

i'm finding that out. i'm going to run a slightly smaller tire, which may or may not do what i want it to...i'd have to run some coil overs like what you're running too...i've kinda nixed the idea for the moment as i'm working on a lot of other things.
