The final weight came in around 182 pounds. I have a mix of DOM and ERW and a mix of different size tubing. It's far more than a a typical 8, 10 or 12 point cage but it's still heavy.

If you had a 36 pound cage or roll bar, it must have been made with exhaust tubing or was a show roll bar, not made for roll over protection.
just talked to him... its .065" wall chromoly 1 5/8". i bought it used and never used it myself, just sold it to him. he hasnt weighed it yet but is going to try.

So following the rules and roughly eyeballing the dimensions of the inside of a 3rd gen, I'd be pretty surprised if you could make a 10pt 4130 lighter than 70# and 1018 lighter than 86#.

my mild steel 1 3/4 8 point is heavy heavy heavy. never weighed it.
