Going to Heartland Park Topeka for the NHRA Division V Summit ET Finals this weekend with the Bandimere Speedway team. Taking the LS1/4L60E '82 Berlinetta, which has been running a grand total of 10 days (well, was first started 10 days ago - guess it's only been run 4 of those days).
Ran a best of 13.24 @ 104.9 mph here with our 5800' elevation and ~8500' DA at the time. Will be interesting to see what it does down there. The '57 usually followed the NHRA altitude correction factors, but they may be slanted toward carb'd cars. When I took the car there last year with the ZZ3/TH700 and CC carb, it didn't pick up as much, so we'll see.

going by Drag Times DA calculators, that thing sould run bottom 12's or better! we'll see how the EFI compares though. glad to hear you did well enough to go to the division finals again!

With all the stuff I've broken this year, it's truly amazing. In the class that qualified me, I won the first race, and runnered-up the 2nd, then scattered a couple of round wins over the next 4 (including going out 1st round of the last race) to hang on to win the season championship by a single bonus point (they only take the champ from that class). Although, judging by what I've heard from other racers, I probably could have gone in one of the other classes I run as well.Originally Posted by mw66nova

Very true. I've actually met racers from the home track there that I've never even seen before (from classes I don't run, mostly).Originally Posted by brandoz28

the first year i went was truely awesome......walked around the pits and everyone who was from eddyville/cordova was awesome and there's definitely a strong bond between all the people from the 2 tracks. then going the 2nd time with my sister was also great, and now i have people to chill with on the regular saturdays
man i want that...i've only raced in one bracket race competitively, and i ended up red-lighting second round...maybe next season? it's hard to go every saturday when i HAVE to work saturday's because my school schedule doesn't allow for much else.

its really a blast, i say it every year but i'm really hoping next year is the year i can get back into it pretty hard, i just about had this whole footbrake/driving the stripe thing figured out last year

A lot of 3rd gens here this year. Spread across the classes (except motorcycle - none that I saw running that class...).

Oh, best pass so far is 12.40 @ 110.9. Air today was rotten, best of 12.47 @ 109 (3400' DA, 5 MPH head wind), with a 12.58 (90% humidity) & 12.60 (4000'+ DA, 10 MPH head wind) thrown in for good measure.

ugh....that's a lot of ground to get an idea for a dial in!
good luck to you, hope the weather is good (by good i mean dry)

From the looks of the forecast, it'll be like this the next two days.
The 12.47 was in the first round of the "No-E Gamblers" race. Got one time trial (the muggy 12.58), then bought into the gamblers race. Guessed a 12.46 (it didn't feel like it was pulling right until I shifted into 3rd in the time trial, figured it would run better), then cut a -0.004 light. 5 hours later first round losers got another time run, when it ran the 12.60. At least I have runs that track the weather station now.
In the "real" race Sunday, Sportsman is first at 8 a.m., no time trial. I'm hoping to get paired with someone dialing "12.0" (12.00 is the lowest you can dial in Sportsman) and run them out the other end.

thats the one thing i always was uncomfortable with at finals, no time trial, just take a shot in the dark at what its gonna run, if you've been racing your car a long time with good logs, no issue, if its your 2nd year racing its a little nerve racking lol

Since the Sportsman class is half the size of Pro and Super Pro, after running Sportsman first (and high school, and motorcycles), they run off two rounds of Pro and Super Pro, so if you happen to win first round of Sportsman, your next round will be around 2-3 p.m. That's if there's no rain delays. So, two "cold" runs, even if you have a weather station and data (I have the former, very little of the latter).
First time trial today, had an acceptable light, and the car ran close to what I expected. Next shot was the "No-E Gambler" race again, and it had gotten hot and really humid, worse than I'd seen so far this weekend, plus a 5-10 MPH head wind, so I added .12 to the time it ran earlier in the morning. I was paired with a 10-sec car again - when I stalled up the car pushed into the beams a little, so I was a little soft deliberately on the tree and was green. He went green, too, and caught me just at the strip and his win light came on. I figured I was really lazy on the tree, got the time slip and my RT said ".000". His RT was pretty poor for a Pro racer, .069, but the car slowed down on me by another tenth, and he took 0.0088 stripe. Done for the day. Combination of being deep in the beams, the wind picking up after I dialed in, and the temp rising about 5 degrees since I last checked the weather station.
So, need to get to bed so I can get up in time to go race Sunday morning.

I wish I would have had a camera with me this morning (left my cell phone at my sister's house when I headed for the track). The whole area was blanketed in fog, and they called us into the lanes, anyway. We couldn't even see half track. When we went in to stage, we had no idea if they got our dial-in correct (I finally made out the scoreboard at about 1000').
But, I can't blame that. I didn't have a good light, my opponent (from HPT) was sandbagging and I knew it (had a "12." on his window for a dial-in - 12.00 is the min allowed dial-in in Sportsman). He started fender racing me at 1000', but underestimated my top-end speed and couldn't keep up with me. Like a dummy, I dumped him at the stripe and he took 0.0038 second for a non-break-out win. Dumb! Dumb! Dumb! Next round, of course, he adds 0.08 to his 12., and breaks out.
Except for the "honor" of a perfect light, I drove 570 miles to get skunked.
There were a lot of 3rd gens out this year, though. One (a Gary Stinnett car) went to the Pro final.

There was good reason to be optimistic, but I just screwed up.

that's what happened to me in the finals when i went, misjudged the stripe and tried to dump him. ended up giving it back by not a lot

A couple of pictures here http://www.egleye.com/home.htm
I hate their website, you have to click through a bunch of menus to find anything, can't directly link so others can go see your pics. You need to click on "2010", "ET Finals", and "Sportsman". Picture # ETF10-0024 shows a time trial, I would guess it was a 1.80 sec 60' pass. It hits the Hoosiers harder than I expected, guess I either need more than 16 psi, or to put the LCA's in the middle RB hole. Pic # ETF10-0563 was either taken slightly later after launch, or it was a softer 60' (probably a softer 60' - I believe that was the last pass on Friday).
