That's the hardest part about bracket racing, making the car as consistent as possible. Nothing wrong with running 16 second times in a bracket race especially if it can run that close. Those slower cars can be the hardest ones to beat.
Break down all your runs into sections. See what your 60' time is. Then look to see how long it took you to go from 60' to 330', 330' to 660' etc. This will give you an idea where on the track the car picks up or slows down.

Consistency is the key to bracket racing, or any drag racing for that matter.. Do the same burn out, same staging procedure, and be especially critical on your launch and shifting rpm to keep it as close to the same revs as possible. A weather station is nice, but it's also one more variable to consider in your round to round tune up... I've seen many bracket racers fail miserably by loading up their race effort with gadgets and gizmos, and neglecting the imortance of the human factor!!! Lots and lots of passes and when possible even staying in the same lane will improve your consistency in ET and MPH. No idea what your level of experience is as a bracket racer, but IMO it takes at least a couple seasons to just get yourself "dialed in" to doing everything the same, every pass....

It also don't hurt to learn to race at the stripe. Better to dial too slow and time crossing over the finish line than to dial too fast and not be able to do anything but watch 'em fly by.

Honestly, I usually leave .1-.15 in the bag depending on how fast the car i am running against.
