Question

how much horsepower/torque would my 83 305 ho put out to the flywheel. It is freshly rebuilt with a holly 650 carb, edelbrock intake, comp cam, headman hedders with flowmast 3" all the way back. I am also wondering how it would do top speed and in a 1/4 mile. please respond asap, very interested from u experts.

Re: Question

What intake and cam? Could be the same as factory, which was 150hp, or could be more. 1/4 mile could be 16's-15's.

Re: Question

Without specific data, a wild guess would be somewhere in the 15 second range. A bone stock 305 runs 16's. You haven't done anything to make huge power gains.

If you really want to know what it will do in the 1/4 mile, wait until spring and take it to a track to find out.

Re: Question

You'll probably be in the 80 MPH range in the 1/4 mile and maybe in the low 90's.

Re: Question

My 305 with holley 600, edelbrock performer intake, mild cam, T5 and the crapest 2.5" exhaust on earth (bodged onto the back of the standard y pipe bodged onto some unkown shortys) runs 15.2 at 92mph. I really need to get that exhaust sorted...

If you start making any real horsepower and put a set of sticky tires on it, be prepared to spend some money on it. There was a reason they never put these behind a 350 in these cars. I broke mine with a simple 305 that was running high 13's.
