fuel line and cell

Ok, 500 to 600 horse big block. Anyone have any suggestions on what size pump and lines to use? Also I am using this as a street/strip car. Was thinking on taking the stock tank out and slipping in a 8 gallon cell where it is now. Anyone know the rules on this as far as if you need to shield it underneath? I know if you put it in the car you have to shield it from the passenger compartment. Also if anyone has done this can you show me some pics of how you did it?

sump the factory tank, it's the easiest and cheapest/best option IMO. Jegs and summit both sell sumps, only thing I would do is cut off the 1/2" npt fitting and get a -10an welded on there in case you ever step up your fuel line size due to more power. I run -10 from the sump to my magnafuel pump to a -10 line up front. Cheaper to buy bigger stuff initially than upgrade later on.

Re: fuel line and cell

Been good, winters been tough though, record snow, 1 mechanic (me) and 20 year old plow trucks in my fleet (newest) and enough yahoo drivers to start a three ring show, so lots of scrambling and OT, but the $ dont hurt in this economy. Been seeing lotsa "whats it gonna run?" posts and when I look in, they are talking stock lg4, 4.8 ls blah, blah blah so yea... I keep tabs on the old crew though, you, stephen, matt, dig, 87ta, **** etc.. I enjoy reading the project threads the most. So wht`s up with you? any good projects coming up?

Re: fuel line and cell

i second what steve said about the sump. i sumped my tank and never looked back. i'm running -10 to my aeromotive tsunami, then a -8 to my regulator. i'm making 500+fwhp and it seems to be working fine so far.

hi scott!

Re: fuel line and cell

Hey buddy! Tracks open this weekend here, rain snow mix on the way, been 20`s for the last week or so..can`t wait to go watch some guys brave the cold LOL...theres always some die hards...

OP: A good fuel system is the foundation of the car, do the sump -10 to the pump and AT LEAST -8 to the front, fuel supply isnt one thing you can nail from the seat unless its REAL bad, best to have the fuel if needed than not. I picked up a bunch when I did the system on my car vs what I thought was working well.
