Altitude conversion for 1/4 times

Hey all,
Who knows where I would find a conversion formula to correct times for altitude. Ran at 5,800ft. and I want to know the sea level equivilent.

383 stroker (carbed) with double hump cast iron heads and pump gas
LS6 Big Block buildup now in progress

Best results before the engine blew up
Best ET on a time slip: 11.857
Best corrected ET: 11.163
Best MPH on a time slip: 117.87
Best corrected MPH: 126.10
Best 60 foot: 1.662

Racing at 3500 feet elevation but most race days it's over 5000 feet density altitude!

Thanks Stephen! Just what I needed. Maybe we could add this chart to the Tech section?

5800'? That sounds like Bandimere!

If you can believe that table, the Camaro's best becomes a 15.5 @ 87.2 mph. And, the '57 runs a 14 flat @ 100 mph. Wow!

Barametric pressure and humidity also enter into the equation, which the table does not take into account (Stephen alludes to the barametric pressure in his density statement). My racing buddies' drag computers said the equilivent altitude was 8200 ft when the Camaro made its best run of 16.71 @ 81 mph.

Re-adjusting for density altitude I can actually use that chart to dial in the car. I have another chart similar to that one at the track with a breakdown for every 50 feet in elevation. When conditions change I can get a close enough reading to what my next run should be. Trouble is I keep red-lighting and my dialin means nothing after that.

hey there 57,
Yes it is Bandimere I speak of! And only 10 minutes away from Lakewood where my folks live. I was able to get in on the last 2 test and tune sessions of the season. Best time was 16.234 @86.33mph. (Temp F was 65, relative humidity was zero, and absolute baromter was 23.41) I used the chart to compute that to around 15.0 @ 93mph. I would like to adjust using density altitude but I don't the formula.

Hey, IROCKZE, I live about 8 miles from Bandimere. Spent most of my Fridays there this summer.

The barometric pressure they give you on your time slip is notoriously inaccurate. I've seen the same number as thunderstorms roll in, while guys with their own weather stations watch it drop. Or, the track number stays the same from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., even though racers' weather stations have been showing it going up. Bottom line: don't believe your time slip when it comes to barometric pressure at Bandimere.

I haven't been able to get to the fall racing. I hope to have the '57 back up and running for the spring. Perhaps we'll run into each other.

Yes, Rudolph can stick his ol' nose in at the worst times...
