street competition

I'm interested in knowing what you guys can and can't beat on the street. Early this summer I bought my second Camaro an '89 RS Convertible(305 TBI) which is only mildly built so far.

For example I can run with a Ford Probe GT or a Prelude, but I can't touch a Grand Prix GTP(supercharged). How about you? Honestly.

old motor would hang me with 6spd Z28 LT1's that were lightly modded.

Until the LS1 hit I was the fastest guy in highschool.

I know, you're impressed. And no you can't touch me. J/K

When my car was running I used to beat just about anything. A couple of n2o assissted Stangs also. I even raced a ZX-11 and he could not pull away.

It will be back soon.

So 20 PSI,

Does your user name suggest that your car was supercharged or what? It's sorta hard to believe that any street car could hang with a ZX11 especially in a straight line. I mean what do those things top out at like 170 MPH or something. Are you serious?

Lemme see... I've

destroyed multiple 5.0 TBI autos by like 7 carlengths

ran door to door with an 87 TPI 350 IROC

beaten 3 5.0 5 speed Mustang LXs... 2 were EFI, one was a modded 84 carb car

dismembered a late 80s/early 90s Supra

mutilated a Subaru Impreza RS

and I've been beaten by

Mercedes CLK 550 Roadster

93 Mustang LX 5.0 5 speed w/ headers, gears, and catback

89 T-Bird SuperCoupe 5 speed (took me from a 70mph roll)

88 Camaro w/ a built ZZ4.... utterly beat me down hardcore from a 60mph roll up to 120

95 Mustang GT 5 speed (ran door to door from a 40mph roll until 90, then he started walking away and put multiple carlengths on me up to 130)

As you can see, I've got a problem with top end power - I'm cleaning up on the street but getting my a$$ handed to me on the highway.

To Black '89 RS, sorry for the delay with this reply. I am at work and cannot reply immediately.

Yes, I have a TurboTA. PAS, Inc. and Pontiac tested the car before its release and found the top speed to be around 175 MPH. During the Silver State Classic in 1991, the TTA was clocked at 178 MPH with slight modifications, which means changing the chip to take the top speed governor out so it will go past 135 MPH. I've gone 135 and the tach said 4K rpm and I know that in all my other gears I can go to atleast 5500 rpm.

You should have seen the look on the riders face when he looked at me at 140 MPH right next to him.
