Shift Points

I have a 305 tpi 5 spd 1987 gta,I know the tpi has no top end so should I shift at 4000 rpm instead of wasting time shifting at 5000 while im racing.Thanks

I'd go ahead and wait until 4500 atleast, but, go out on a sunday, and try it to see what works better. Pic a place where you won't bother anyone, and where no one will bother you. If you can't find somewhere like that, just do it at a light when you're alone.
