Stock Performance

I was wondering about how your guys cars performed when they were stock. I rember after i bought my car it was stock from the air filters to the mufflers( and i mean everything ). How did you guys run against other cars and at the track.

Heres how i did- At the Track( my first time ever at a track)i got 4 runs with a best of 14.1 at 99.8 mph with a 2.364 sixety foot time. un fortunally i had ****ty Pacemaker 235's on the back( was all the guy could afford)so i got sidways off the line every time including that 14.1. On the street with goodyear 245's on the back( a week later )on my G-Tech i got a best of 13.8 at 97.6 mph ( dident see 60ft time cause i kept my eyes on the road). Now against other cars I have many kill stories but the cars I beat were 5.0's( stock and lightly moded ), LT1 camaros(stock and Lightly moded ) and a few other
3rd gens with 305's. I only lost to two cars. I lost to a 2001 SS Camaro( i had about a car and a half till about 65 or so than he pulled like hell on me and i lost. Than i lost ot my friends Grand National( but i knew i was gonna lose cause he does mid 12's).

Now where did i stand when i was stock to how you guys did or are doing.

Im not stock now but I was one of the fastest cars in my area stock to stock or stock to lightly moded

My first time out with the TTA brand new, i went 13.55 at about 100 mph. with only a couple of mods, a chip and k&n filter and learning how to drive a turbo car, I was running 12.70's most of the time with a 12.42 @111 best (good air/good track, Cecil County). I also was killing most 5.0's with mods and nitrous.

My TTA should be back on the road soon and should be running mid 11's. How many street cars are running that? My next real race will be against my 91 Mustang that ran 10.97 last Sunday at MIR with my son driving it. Can't wait for that race.

14.1 @ 99 is AWESOME for a stock L98. They usually run a best of 14.4's at 97. Congrats on getting a fast one.

damn you are lucky to have a TTA- those are bad. i have only seen one in person and I see him somwhat often and i rev my car at him but he doesnt evan look at me and keeps on going the speed limit- he looks like a dork and drives the car like he is scared of it. anyways i think it is bone stock and the guy probaly has it just cause it is a rare car.

Wow,thats a strong running car you have there. Those are the fastest times I've seen for a 350TPI thirdgen even SD.The almost 100mph track trap speed is 6spd L98 corvette territory as is the 13.8 ET.Are you absolutely positive it was bone stock when you got it though?(maybe your plenum was ported and timing bumped, you never know, When I first bought my car, about a year ago,I ran a 14.3@96 with a 2.1 60ft stock with 89k,brandnew 245GSC's,iced plenum,24PSI in the rear tires,65-70deg.weather,Mobil 1 oil,and a tuneup.(new plugs,wires,coil,cap,roter,6BTDC,fuel filter,02 sensor)BTW,I'm curious as to why your G-tech time had a lower MPH and quicker ET,mines the opposite, about 1-2 tenths slower and 2mph high. Speed Density 350's kick a$$

Those are really good times, some don't think the L98's can do those kind of times stock, but I have always said they could.
SD really doesn't have anything to do with that car running those times though.

yea that was bone stock!! I dident evan put ice on my motor or nothing- back than i dident know about stuff like that. My car before was a 88rs with a 2.8 so i was never into racing- just looks and sound system etc. ill bet if i could go back adn race again i probaly could have gotten atleast a tenth or two with with ice- let a little air out of the tires, take the air filters out and not get sideways off the line.

I should have gone Saturday because I have to work every Sunday. But starting in April every Friday night Midnight Madness. Hopefully the TTA will be done by then. If not I will be racing the Tahoe.

This weekend the mustang has to be at Mason Dixon early to get the chassis certified by NHRA. Maybe I'll get my butt out of bed and go Saturday.

See ya there, Pete

My totally stock 1991 1LE w/ the 350 ran a 13.90 at 99.46mph. That was my fastest third gen. Prior to that was a 91' 350 B4C that had pullies, flowmaster cat back, ported plenum that did 14.07 at 100.86mph with alot of wheel spin and slow shifts(tranny was week at 116k miles). I have yet to test my new 92' 350 B4C. Feels stronger than the 1LE but will wait and see. Kevin is right about most stock 91'-92' 350's run 14.2-14.4 at 95-97mph. You definately have a fast one.

Anway 13.90 is fast- im glad to see somany fast third gens stock. hell i just cant wait till i can go back to the track with my new mods( they made a pretty big difference all togher). Just gotta wait till i have the extra money for drags radials or maybe slicks, well see what ill get but I think with great traction i can get a 13.3 or so- well see

The SD cars sure run good. Makes me wish I'd waited another year before buying my Formula 350. Here's some #'s from a stock MAF car.

Ran my car in Oct 89 at a good track. Only mods were a 180 deg thermostat and screens off the MAF. Met another racer who had an identical 89 Formula 350. As luck would have it we ended up racing each other in the first round of bracket competition. I dialed a 14.65 against his 14.55. I cut a 2.03 60' time against his 2.06 and pulled half a car lead. We were DEAD even from that point onward. I ran an on the brakes 14.52/90 to his 14.52/93. Later that evening I ran a 14.49/94, the best time recorded before more mods.

I've seen posts talking about faster stock MAF cars but I've never personally seen one run more than 95 MPH. I'd say 14.4-14.7 at 93-95 MPH were typical numbers at a good track on a good day for an 87-89 L98.
