First time at the track ?'s
http://www.missionraceway.com
I'm heading up to Mission Raceway on Friday for the Street Legal races, but they have a couple of rules that I'm wondering about (rules are at the link above).
It says that vehicles must be drained of antifreeze before racing.
1) Why must this be done?
2) Do they mean you can only run water in the rad or do you have to drain and refill at the track? The reason that I ask is I'm going to be driving there after work, so I'm not sure if I'll have enough time to cool down.
Other than that, I'm ready to go. It an 89 Formula 350 that I just bought 2 weeks ago. It's basically tuned up, but I want to get some times before I start doing any mods. It's already faster than my 87 Bird with the V6

that is actually in the nhra rule book. i really doubt they will check that, i know mine has never been checked.
the reason is that if you pop a coolant line water can be mopped off the track really easy, anti freeze on the other hand attaches itself to the rubber already on the track and makes a slippy gooey surface to play on.

Mission doesn't allow antifreeze on the track. You "have" to drain it and fill your cooling system with water. It's a track rule. Why? Although I never got a real answer, there's a couple of reasons they could only allow water.
They don't want any antifreeze leaking into the water table. Although I've never been to mission yet I think they are too close to the river and need to control any run-off. They could have the track policy just so that if you break something and lose your coolent, it's only water and not slippery antifreeze being laid down on the track.
I wasn't aware that they enforced the rule for street cars either.
