IDEAS FOR DRAG ONLY 3RD GEN

Ok, heres the deal. I'm buying a stock 84 Z28 with an auto 305 ( completely stock).I wanted to make a complete drag-only car . So I was thinking of putting in a 350 (carbureted),5 speed manual tranny? , porting everything, posi & new gears , good exhaust and racing cams, and seriously considering a holley 420 supercharger. My questions are
1. what tranny would be able to handle the 350 with the supercharger?
2. What kind of posi should i buy and would 3.73 gears be good for racing?
4.. What exhaust set-up should i get?
5. What other things must i change just to be able to use the 350 w/supercharger?

for a drag only car a TH400 or strongly built TH350 or 700r4 will get the job done, also getting a 12 bolt or 9" will be needed or a built with the best of everything 7.5 should also work as your not going bigblock. no need for exhaust as its a drag only, just run a full lenth header, or if you MUST run an exhaust you can cut up the floor boards and run a full 3" duel system.

Look at my car and what I've done to it. You'll probably have to change everything anyway in yours to make it a good drag car. Just start with a good base car with no rust.

Stay away from the T5 tranny for drag racing. It won't last. If you want a manual tranny, look at getting an old 4 speed modified to work. You won't need the OD in the T5 anyway.

Also stay away from the 700R4 tranny for drag racing. Again you don't need the OD and the gear ratio between first and second is too great a range. A TH400 is a tight fit but will work. The TH350 is a good choice. A drag racing Powerglide is your best choice.

Gear ratio in the diff will depend on too much to just guess on it. It depends on engine output, tranny choice and rear tire height.

Exhaust, what's that? 1 5/8" headers are minimum. 1 3/4" are prefered but expensive.

Most of the time a single carb is all you need. You can stick a 1250 Dominator on it if you really need that much CFM. Dual carbs are dificult to set up anyway.
