garbage in, garbage out. If you don't input the correct data it's won't give accurate readings. Other than that it's reasonably accurate. MPH will probably be a little higher than what's printed on a time slip because the gtech gives that mph at the 1/4 mile mark. A time slip MPH is actually a calculated time between the last set of timing lights. The timing computer then estimates the mph from the time it takes to break the lights. Since you are constantly accellerating through the lights the computer does an estimated mph. The gtech will give a true mph at the 1/4 but depending on your inputs the accuracy will vary.

no I don't have one.

they are nice toys, good for seeing if new mods helped. But as far as bragging rights on 1/4 ET's,be prepared for a flame attack if posting only G-TEC times. LOL
on mine a good bump is worth .6 sec.Like STEPHEN said,it all depends on setup/road conditions.

I have one and like it a lot. The only drawback is, I can hardly find a suitable place to do any testing. Cruising around looking at instantaneous G numbers gets old.

i have found that it can be within teh 1 tenth that they advertise on tv. but that only happens if you can hook really good, since my car dead hooks on the street and the strip it is very close normally. liek others have stated, the mph is off by a bit, i find it to be 3-5mph high usually.

later

So lets just say my car cant hook at all, and i dont plan on improving the suspension at all(this is a hypothetical situation). The Gtech wouldnt give me accurate times just because i spin through the gears.

It should give you good times, how do you think it works for imports, those guys can hook for crap. Think of the Gtech as measuring G-force over your run, then it integrates the graph of its plots and from that it can make a very accurate picture of of 1/4 mile times. This is independent of how hard you car can hook or cant. These things are all worked into the integral that figures out your time.

To recap, the G-tech works well, no matter if you run 18s or 11s. No Im not the president, but I do own one.

I took mine to the track once, did 6 runs and found it to be 0.12 seconds fast (+or-.01)and 5 MPH more allways in the 1/4 mile. So I say there pritty accurate, plus they are good for teaching you how to launch your car buy using the 0-60 mode.
