need alittle help improving my 60 ft times...
I'm sliding in stock class on an 1/8th mile track with 408 tpi 86 IROC.
I got plenty of motor my problem is the class is restricted to radials and naturally asperated.
Mustangs are dominating the class exspecially a 84 coupe knocking out a 1.78 60' on radials. He's 2700 pounds(with the driver). Full quarter he's gunning for low 7.90's .
For this season I'm planning on:
I'm swapping to an LT1 intake to take away some of the torque and add some rpms.
What is a good tire and size to run this class.(drag radials aren't permitted)
Will a 60 series tire hook better than a 50.
I'm also planning on running a spohn torque arm with some adj.lowers.
Don't know if it'll be in the budget to add 90/10's and drag struts.
I've got my weight down to 3400 with me in it.
any comments welcome

A lot of guys have had good luck with the pep boys Futura tires hooking halfway well. If you get them hot they stick pretty well for a true street radial. If you want to hook on street tires, then those 90/10's better be in your budget. I bet that guy in the Mustang has them. Pull the front swaybar...that'll really help your weight transfer. Also, are you running skinnies on the front? Take as much weight off the front as you can. Move your battery to the tunk if class rules permit. Last, pull as much weight out of the car as you can. It takes a lot to get a 3400 lb car moving, so obviously the lighter the better.

I don't think they make a wide tire but go look for a set of Blizzak winter tires. They're a soft compound that hooks up well.

"try a new class"... (lol)
that's about true. next step up is a drag radial power adder class. Their running 6.82 through a full 1/8th mile. With a 1.67 60'. He drove that car two hours up here. Not even going to tell you his gas mileage, (you wouldn't believe me). All these boys are running for the fun of it, but they're running some serious times.
And classes just get faster from there.
I'll stick to the radial class. I'm not expecting to take first, I just want to be competive and have fun.
The battery is in the back. I got skinnys up front. Front Sway bar is off. Crash bumper is off. My front is coming up pretty well.
I've been wanting to mess with the rear suspension alittle. So I'm thinking about the spohn stuff.
Will a 295-50-15 fit an IROC. or is that just too much tire.
