Re: headers $2000 GOING Big Block!
Well lets see.. Putting the car back together. with All new aftermarket parts.. the Biggest Pain was the Grease gun getting stuck on a Grease zerk and the zerk snapping off..(WTF) lol.
even the gun was new and the catch for the Zerk was stuck..had to take it apart knock out what was left of the Zerk and to the same to the inner tie rod. took 10 min to get things back on track.
SIDE NOTE.. make sure all new tools are in working order. lol.
11 zerks on the front end now. WITH a rod end bump steer kit installed. should have the front end on the car tonight. So I can drop the front end down lower on the stands to install the motor this week. (Thats the Plan)

They are made in USA, hopefully I ll have help putting these in my 1986 trans am 5.0
I can't show you, before and after, cause I didn't get them yet.
They are in shipping.

came in what looks like good shape. will need to trim off a 1/4" front lip but. Im thinking this might have room to fit. VFN installd bolts in all the place that needs them sweet! (its a bolt on) a bit dusty. but im Ok with the dust..not digging the style. as I like a standard shape of cowl hood. But just want it to fit.
needed a bit more room to the front half of the cowl I have.

OK thanks, but I should have asked is this the 6" Sunoco hood or the 7 1/2" Sunoco hood? I cant wait to see your finished project! I be she runs like a raped ape!

Re: headers $2000 GOING Big Block!
filter above..was the first one I orderd.. the thing is about 5lbs..not joking...lol and dont think the filter is large enough to feed 615cid. and sits to high. (15")
filters below could work if I made a flat plate to sit them on. and seal it to the hood.
the filters above Im not into..but I had to try..
the filter above working with a fab shot to make a drop Base made to run with the cowl.

Re: headers $2000 GOING Big Block!
did this on by birthday 8/20. its about time! and on a side note. installing from the side. it drops right in. no fighting it at all. just remember. I installed it 2 times in 20 min.as I wanted to make sure of a few things..also My Motor mount bolts that run through the mounts are 9/16. not 1/2" that ARP has.as I wanted tighter fit.(no slop).

Re: headers $2000 GOING Big Block!
also did a few things to make it a bit different. like the trans cooler lines.on the left and Vacuum pump line. on the right of the photo.
larg mechanical roller= No Vacuum so I added a vacuum pump and can to the car. to keep the power brake working and heater vents. also no holes are drilled into the car. using all the factory holes by GM.. lol the mounts will use the holes from the fuel line hold downs/cover thingy..lol
vacuum pump and can under the plate seen above..
had to fab a braket to mout the can. to use the factory GM holes.
every thing fits like a GLove!
tucked away..unseen..
things to do..

Re: headers $2000 GOING Big Block!
the only thing not to get a AN fitting.. I could have used a fitting to install but it just did not look right..
the 3/8 hard line running up to the booster.
it is a tight fit. but no hose clamps anyplace on this car! (not even the Heater core. Im having AN bungs installed on a new Aluminum core. for the heater..
some things ya might never see..
above one of the steering/frame brace. and the billet AGR steering box cover below.

Re: headers $2000 GOING Big Block!
as for the trans cooler install only drilled 2. 3/16th holes for the top bolts and the factory holes on the lower part.
the holes still hold the plastic GM parts as well. as you can see. its all set up for the 140deg sending switch. to be installed. and a off/on switch as well. If you look closely. you can see the factory bolt holding the plastic and the cooler. it's like GM was thinking ahead..lol (if only) it took some planning..and time.. but I did not want to Cut My car Up. to do this stuff..
3/8 trans lines Note below I cut this Hole Back in 92 to run fuel lines to My NOS Fogger setup.. so ..it bugs me to this day... so I used it to run the trans lines and I may use it to run the fuel lines as well. not sure yet..

Re: headers $2000 GOING Big Block!
it took me 5 months to Get my sunoco hood from VFN they might be upto speed now.
also when you fit any Glass Hood remember to trim the front down to what GM has there hoods at for a Factory fit.. it easy and fast.. this hood was trimmed from 3/4inch down to under 1/4inch for a factory fit. do a research and you will see some nasty fits..as some just dont want to trim a new hood..but most all will need a trim for this type of fit. a CC will just slide into the slot with a slight drag..(not a nasty lip!

you are doing a great job with this build. I am a big fan. once you get the car on the road, let us know how well that vac pump works for you. I have the vac can and it works great for waht I need it for, but maybe in the future I might need a vac pump. keep up the awesome work.!

Tubes were left loose for fitment of 4"collectors. The above transmission Pan 6 pounds (and I'm not joking.) Is used for install only the matching transmission Pan to the oil Pan will be installed in final fitment. The thing is Bullet proof you can't hurt it

looking good.
I sent ya a private message the other day. was not sure if you got it, but what was the name of the company who built your air filter element? I can't remember, but I know we chatted about it a while back. I am considering mayyyybe having one made that is an inch taller than what I currently have.

Re: headers $2000 GOING Big Block!
Brackets are about finished
Just need to buff & Polish. all holes are Factory GM just re tapped to 1/4x20. also the rear brake line bugs me. the one with the rock guard on it's the only one I did not Make. it came from Classic tube. and sits the way GM made them. I should have made one. as I dont Like the fitment of it. I would have made it fir the body better. out of the full kit from them. it's the only Line I used.
Now doing the dipsticks. started with the trick looking braided SS type. 1/4"NPT oil pan. and no good as the tube will not stay in the place I want it. so had to go with Moroso's twist lock. bendable. to the shape I want after setting the depth. the tras dipstick is a Lokar unit. had to make a bracket for it as I did not want to drill any (more) holes in the firewall.
down there. is a hole it screws into. and needs to not run into the header tubes.

Re: headers $2000 GOING Big Block!
Well the dip stick is solved. with the sharp bends needed to clear the lowest tube. with the Moroso Fabricated aluminum Pan I was able to use my first Dipstick. had to make 2 brackets. and Kampfer the inside of the lower part of the tube that inters the Pan. So the dip stick pushes in without hanging up. the first bracket shown I tossed together the 2nd not shown will Hold it to the Head away from the forward tube.
Fabricating this stuff took time. as i did not want it to look hokey. will trim it up and make a better fit. but at this point it works. now just need to drop in 6qts of oil and check the fill makes.
the dipstick tube clears the lower tube and others. So. this moroso pan will fit in the 3rd gen Camaro. with stock steering. shown below. we have 1/4" inch to clear the draglink. with fill turn to lock ea side

Re: headers $2000 GOING Big Block!
first snow of the year.. on the other hand..
so if ya want to do AN fittings you will need to get a good set of AN wrenches. I did not want so much as a nick on the large fittings call me picky.
tools for on hand ..
below some trimming is still needed on my upper support. as I had to cut off almost 4" of it to fit the shroud better.. its just sitting in place. the cut is better then it looks..lol
putting the hose together. The lower hose has a Earls 20AN 45deg. (shorter) then the red horse brand. and fits better so close to the Idler arm & bracket. NOTE: the Earls fitting in 20AN has a barb that pushes into the braided hose on assembly.and then sinching down when put together.and the red horse has a tube that slides into the hose and then on assembly it threads into the hose on the inside as well has sinching down. with this larg 20AN hose with the braided hose slid all the way into the red half of the fitting there is now way to get the hose pieces to not have a Gap. (red and blue parts.) to get no Gap you will have to have the hose 3/8" from the inner lip. in short slide it all the way inside the red fitting.. then pull it out 3/8" and then put together.. anyway Presher tested to 40psi.. and no leaks..
radiator is just sitting in place. but most of the cooling set up is done. the heater hose is next tigging AN fittings to the Aluminum heater core. (no hose clamps anyplace) doing a 8AN and 10AN below pic of fittings going on the heater core. test fitting the core. so I can cut some of the tube off and tig the fittings on. to it just clears the fire wall and makes a 90deg turn. as the big block is sorts close to them..
power steering is all in.as well.

Re: headers $2000 GOING Big Block!
what size is that filter that you need.? I may have what you need.
I ordered a custom filter from R2C back in September. They scammed me big time (long story) and they seemingly don't do legitimate business. I never got my proper air filter, but I do have the incorrect sized oval filter that they sent me, and I have no use for it. I was going to put it on ebay for like $40 or so. The whole R2C scam still baffles me, but that story is for another day. Give them search on google and google reviews. Its a shame, because they do appear to occasionally be a valid business at items and produce some good products, but WAYYYY too many stories from people like me who have been burned by these guys. ...
...... and I still need to find a place to create a custom air filter for me, and that is turning out to be harder than I imagined.

Re: headers $2000 GOING Big Block!
according to the invoice that they sent with it, it is 14.64" x 7.76" x 4"
its got the hex pattern , but its not black in color.
I can get photos if ya need. Its brand new, and I can't use it, as I ordered one that was 3" tall MAX and this one is way too tall.

I just replied to your PM a moment ago. if you want this filter I have no problem sending it over to you, as I know I can't use it and I would be happy someone else can get use out of it.
