New 1/4 Mile Quesses? Continued...

Ok, i've done some different stuff than when I posted awhile ago, TCI Converter, different roller rockers, 510 lift 298 degree duration solid lifter cam, and some other stuff. Giving the data in my signiture and your guesses. What do you think I would get IF I got traction at the strip?? I still want a low 12 second car if not lower....

Why don't you just wait until the track opens and take it out and race it. Guesses don't mean much since there are too many variables.

If you want a guess, I'll say low 13's, maybe high 12's. I don't see your engine producing that much power with those parts.

That is true, i should wait, but I have spring fever and there is snow on the ground still. So all I can do is good ol' bench racing...

Oh, hey Stephen...If you want something a little more "pratical" and milder, I'll trade you for your IROC.

You want me to actually drive a "car" on the streets. I've owned trucks all my life. The Camaro is the first car I've ever owned and as soon as I bought it, I stripped it down for racing.

My truck will run low 15's at the track and has done very low 13's with NOS.

A truck that runs 13's. :hail: Must be nice.

Yeah, I found out my hp and torque is a little under what I was expecting (but still enough) according to a program called desktop dyno. 410 HP and torque is 350. What would those numbers get me at the track. My friend is trading me 4.10s for my 3.73s as well. Opinions?

DD estimates engine HP and not rear wheel HP and usually estimates a little high. Assuming you have a 3500 pound car race ready with driver I'd take a guess at mid to high 12's.

With a 3500 pound car you're going to have to put 400 hp to the rear wheels to run 12.0

And it's a heavy truck. Going down the track it's 4600 pounds.

I agree man, DD reads high (ok thats just what i've head before, i've never used it in my life). Suprised by a 13 second truck? C'mon man haven't you ever heard of the lightning (just an example) They run low 14s stock, throw on the "chip filter and MAF" combo and you'll run 13s easy. I've seen 2 run 12s, I've got a picture somewhere of one of them.

Dude, I know I constantly fire off reality checks and you're probably getting tired of it, but I gotta bring one more thing up. I know 12s is what you've been shooting for this whole time. But you know what? We'll be taking the car to the track maybe 3 or 4 times this season, and we'll be driving it the 96 miles there and back. Realistically, what we need to focus on is NOT how fast it will run at the strip, we need to get it set up for STREET performance since thats where it will be driven 95% of the time. Sure we'll bolt on some drag radials to run better at the track, but we always have to keep in mind the true use of the car while picking things out.

BTW just to get a 2nd opinion I asked Gus about the gears, and he agreed that 3.73 would be idea and 4.10s would be a bad idea. Man, driving that T/A was scary tonight lemmie tell ya...

Yeah, I'm not saying I havent seen 13 sec trucks before, but it would be cool to have one. Quick part runs!!!

I think you are right about getting traction on the street is more important than a time slip for right now. Hell I probably wont even run the camaro this year at the track. I want to get suspension, SFC, and slicks or drag radials.

Yeah, you've already talked me out of 4.10s. I am going with an SLP unit from a guy on here who has one and 3.73s which I can milk till I get money for the 9-inch (down the road...next year?) But I'm sure that my car isnt going to be a slug though...
