Lg4 track times within, i need a diagnosis (first time at track)
Run #1
Reaction= 1.248
60ft= 2.351
E.T.= 15.8
MPH= 89
Run #2
Reaction= 1.039
60ft= 2.357
E.T.= 15.9
MPH= 84
Now with this information, with my little Lg4 and spohn sfc's as my only real suspension mod (still crippled with the 2.73 open end out back) what am i doing wrong with the launch? How come i raced a 2000 dodge truck with a 150 shot and he ran a 14.8 @ 81 mph. I passed through the traps at a higher speed then he, but he got to the finish faster? Im totally lost. The first time i raced both of the yellow lights up top were still lit, the second time i "deep staged" as its called and got close enough to where the top lights went out and the bottm ones stayed on (no red light yay!) any advice would be great, thanks!

It sounds like he broke something or just let out of it, to run 14.8 @81 he should have been around 90 mph. Your 60' times are a little on the high side consant 2.1 will get you into the 15.5 range. Just keeping going you'll get the hang of it. I've ran 40+ times and still trying to get it right.

Whats up man? The reason he got through the traps at a lower speed is beacouse of gearing. Remember the lower the gear the lower the trap speed. Most trucks come with a 3.73 gear. The higher the gear the higher the trap speed. Like your 2.73's.As far as launching , go to a back road somewhere and practice. Look on the bright side at least you didnt get a 16.03 E.T. Drop me a line the next time you go to the track and Ill see if I can make it. Later.

hey buddy lee, do you pull the subs out when you run? weight kills man, which reminds me, I need to take out the spare and jack, where is that anyways? oh well I'll find it.

found it, wow that looks like a good place to hide stuff. hopefully that weight removal won't hurt my peg leg traction, I still got the heavy box in the back

You had me confused with the "two yellow lights on top" stuff. They're called the staging lights (top is "pre-staged", bottom is "staged").
The three yellow and one green lights come on in .500 second intervals. From your reaction times, I'd guess that you left after you saw the green light. The typical method is to leave when the last yellow comes on. By the time the car gets moving enough to turn off the "staged" light (which is when the ET timer starts), the green will be on and you won't Rudolph. Had you done it that way your last run, your reaction time would have been .539, which is actually pretty good.
As for your times and speed, that's not bad for a stock LG4 and open rear with those gears. My corrected stock times were in the 15.8 @ 87 range, and I did a good bit of tweaking to get there. Gears do help, as the "My Generation Camaro" articles showed.
As for that truck, he very well could have been running out of steam at the top end. I've seen rails doing check-out runs pull 11's at 65 MPH. A quick ET with low MPH means you've got things set up well for drag racing. My '57 is exactly the opposite, with poor 60' times (2.4's) but high MPH. Gears.
