Newbie in the Northwest...

I got a few questions for any Western Washington guys out there. Any of you guys have some good suggestions for any good third gen salvage yards or salvage yards in general? I have an 87 bird I'm doing a few things to. Also, anybody know of any good third gen clubs in the Olympia/Tacoma/Seattle area? I did a search and asked around, but couldn't seem to find one.

I love my bird, but this is the new car...

jay,

most of the C Crew hangs out on the C Crew site & occasionally pop in here(when their server is down). I frequent this board & hang out on the DIY PROM board. Nice cars!!! I used to have an 87 vett, completely modified with nos, later put a vortech on it, sold it & got a third gen. I needed a back seat because my wife & i had our first. Where do you live? therre a few of us here in Tacoma. Hop to hear from you soon!

Craig

What she said!

And it would be killer if you could bring that Vette down for the gathering down here in August. I already have one particular 97 Vette vert added to the kill list..

Seriously though, nice cars man.

This isn't your run of the mill ls1 2001 vette. It has an ls6 intake and exhaust manifolds, cold air intake, and will get a supercharger in a couple of months. So I'll see you in my rear view...

Seriously though, I don't race the vette. If you want some serious competition, take on my 61 Impala....

OK, I'll be the skeptic. How does a 26 year old come to have a 61 impala that eats sports cars, a 01 vette and a decent 3rd gen.

I'm not trying to bash or flame you but I'm recalling some past people who had some bada$$ rides until you saw them in person.

I bought the 61 as a piece of trash. My step-dad and I fixed it up. I bought the 61 about 4 years ago. I bought the 87 bird in 91 for $1200 from a friend of my sister. Bought the Vette 3 weeks ago, got a great deal and cashed in some of my stock options. Put a lot of elbow grease into the 61, she still needs a little aesthetic work, but she runs like a champ.

I live just south of ft. lewis. I plan on doing some junk yarding soon maybe you can let me know what you need. Or maybe we can get together and pull some parts. I need misc. red interior parts for my 87. Most of all I need a head liner and power trunk pull down.

RBud, do you have t-tops? If you do, you might want to buy a new one with ABS plastic liner instead of the fiber board that comes stock. That's what I did. I'm looking for a decent 350 TPI that I can have built. I'm going to buy a T56 and I'm looking for a good 4th gen rear end with discs and 3.42 or so gears, posi is a plus. what days are you free? I have access to a truck and all that if needed.

yes I have t-tops. To find a good 350tpi?? I have yet to see one around here. I will be on terminal leave from the military come the 7th so I will be free almost always till I get a job. Maybe we can take my friends truck also. 86 half ton short bed with 454 ci of power. I quess saturday mornings would work best for me.

Hey Jay.....how long you been in Oly?? I lived in Lacey/Oly for like 6 years. You prolly seen my car there, course it's been a couple years since I lived there so it depends on how long you been out in Oly. anyway......Welcome! I recommend Spanaway for 3rd gen parts, that area is gold mine! I'm not at home so I can't post a pic of my car right yet to see if you recognize, but I will when I get home tomorrow. Later

what are the names of the salvage yards you normally go to? I went to college out in Oklahoma, so I don't know alot about the area. I grew up here, but have been gone for a while. Let me know where the best salvage yards are.
