New IROC Owner - Kent WA
I just recently bought a 1987 IROC-Z which will be the weekend warrior. I've admired this car since it was new but other old cars always seemed to have gotten in the way.
I'm new to this site and Third Gens but not to older / classic cars. Prior cars include 76-78 Camaros and my current DD is a 1965 Buick Skylark... so please be kind with my sometimes-less-than-intelligent questions pertaining to this new-fangled technology
First on the agenda: Seatbelts that work and figuring out why the car occasionally shuts down as I come to a stop.
Pics coming soon...

Re: New IROC Owner - Kent WA
You should be able to purchase s-belts via the classified section here and/or go to your local junkyard. You can also get them new/repo from some of the vendors. I went w/ Junkyard & my local Craigslist, good luck w/your IROCZ & hope you'll eventually agree this is best source of info for our 3rd gens....

I went to the local yard today and looked at about 5-6 Camaros/Firebirds. Not a single decent seat belt... they were all roached out.
The good news is that I was able to piece together a way better than average console topper with all the parts and nice armrest pad (from 3 different Camaros). I don't need it but I couldn't stand to see it go to waste.

Thanks for the welcome.
Seatbelts, well I was assuming that there was something wrong with them but maybe not <?> If I do get another set, then I prefer black... and they would have to lock easier than what I have now.

Re: New IROC Owner - Kent WA
When it comes to seat belts, I try to avoid the junk yard mainly as its a safety feature, just my preference. I got my replacement belts for my TA online, I'll dig up receipt tonight and get you a link. Replaced the dual retractor system for for a single as well, the duals had alot of issues.
EDIT: found it in my email http://www.firebirdcentral.com/Produ...tCode=INT-1113
Would have to double check they fit an IROC, but most of the other parts are pretty close between firebird/camaro, so they probably do.

Re: New IROC Owner - Kent WA
Sometimes, yes. James hydrolocked his '98 Camaro in the parking lot when he drove through a deep puddle and his SLP intake sucked up a ton of water! Then we sheared the bolts off the flywheel trying to restart it! :-p However I found a factory fiberglass hood from an '83 crossfire car that day and the tow truck driver let me put it on the back of his rig for the drive home.

All of a sudden last year the f-body row completely disappeared! Now they are back but mostly 4thgens and mostly Firebirds.
