Won't start?

I have a 84 Z28 Camaro that won't start. Yes, I have checked the battery and it is fully charged. What is the next step to figure out why it won't turn over? Be easy on me, I am new to this website. I know enough about cars to get into trouble, so don't make it to technical. Thanks Also, the drivers side seat belt won't retrack into the head liner slot. I understand there was a recall on this. If this is so, is it a open recall? Thanks.

could be any of the following:

Alternator, Coil, Cap, Rotor, Module, Starter, Starter Wires (stupid damned wires, I hate them)...

Sometimes it'll just turn over and not fire with those though... so... if it doesn't even turn over, look at Alternator, Starter and Starter Wires...

Those are so fun to play with

I'm guessing that you have a carb and not TPI.If you take your air cleaner off , and pour a little bit of gas directly into the carb and if it runs then your fuel pump is shot.Another thing make sure that your getting spark to the spark plugs and check the power wire on the distruber....this happened to me the other day....I was stranded for hours and the only thing was wrong was that the power wire slipped off the distruber cap. Still makes me mad. Hopefully that will help.

I'll take a look at the wires going from the battery to the starter. The starter doesn't make a sound and neither does the solenoid. So maybe there is something wrong with
both. Who knows, thanks for the input.

That narrows it down. Try shorting out the trigger wire to the starter. Take a 3 or 4 foot lengh of wire and strip one end about 1-1/2". Wrap that end around the small terminal on the back of the starter solinoid(sp?). Take the other end and strip 1/4" inch off the end. Now touch that end to the positive terminal on the battery. Did it turn over?

If no, replace your starter.
If yes, you have a wiring issue with your starting circut.

First thing I'd do is replace the starter. If you turn the ignition to start and it won't crank over then the solenoid is shot. Since you can't replace the solenoid just buy a new starter. 40 bucks at Napa.
