Deff. of "totaled"

Hey guys, I was looking on KBB.com and was thinking, isbn't the deffinition of totaled 2/3rds the value it would take it repair it? According to KBB.com the Bird is only worth a tad over 3,000 (like 3068 bucks or something), and they already assessed my car at 1,922.50 in damage... and the shop I already took it to said there will be a lot more damage...

Anyway, I even looked up that it was a Trans Am, like they listed it and it only showed it as worth 3,680 some bucks...

So... looks like it will be totaled, finally. Anyone know of a good 89-90 Firebird Trans Am or GTA for sale in the area (WA, OR, ID, BC) Gota be 89-90, need to one up Jesse and Joe

Jesse and I both agree that you cant "one up" use by having a car that is 1 or 2 years newer. If having the car be new was my main worry, I wouldnt be driving a car thats generation ended in 92 (when I was 12 )

BTW, You better be on AIM when I start it up!

Dude, you are in luck!!! I posted a few months ago about my friend's '89 Formula that is for sale. I was gonna get his number for Icychicken, whos buddy was interested in it, but than I was without internet for a while and never got ahold of my friend. Anyway, it is immaculate! Red with silver gfx and FORMULA in silver on the side. Silver Formula wheels. TPI 305. It was his girl friends car, and she babied it. I haven't seen the car in a few years, but it was in great condition last time I saw it. Let me know if you are interested and I'll get ahold of him. They want $3000 for it.

Dang, I started college in '92.

That's also the year I purchased my Firebird from Mr. Mustafa Tasci.... er.... rather got ripped off by a Mr. Mustafa Tasci. There's a reason why I've got a clean paint job now. Too bad I was stupid back then and couldn't see body damage... and too bad people lie when asked a direct question

There's a positive side to all this, AmorgetRS. You may end up with a completely refinished car like I did.

No thanks, RS. I am rather picky when it comes to my cars and no offense to anyone, but a Formula could never ever cut it in my eyes. I want a car that actually looks good, in my eyes, and Formulas don't do that...

Qwk, that would be rather unfortunate if I got a completely redone car being it will get totalled ripped apart and redone no matter what happens.

Thirdgens stopped production when I was 10.... Damn...

Back to Dougs car before I make you all feel old ))

glad to see your alright there though Doug...hey you may want to rethink buying a car from BC... I know when a car is brought up from the states there is a few saftey mods that have to be done before it can be licenced- just a thought for ya.

BTW if your getting a GTA, then I guess you don't need your seats anymore... E-mail or ICQ me if your interested in selling them.

The chances of the car I buy having a black interior are slim to none, so I will not be selling my black GTA seats, I will be selling the entire interior out of the car I buy, though. Good chance it will be tan or grey.

I must be totally Firebird-ignorant, I thought Formulas looked just like T/As. What are the differences?

Actually, Rosh's is a bad example.... Formaulas are a base model w/ a bigger engine and the TA wing... no ground effects, and a Thirdgen with no gfx is a bad thing.....

Also, that example shows the later model Firebird (the Formula) from 91-92 with the "banshee" front-end vs the earlier model with the "blunt" front-end.

Formula's tend to be "strippers" and weigh about 100 lbs. less than the TA/GTAs due to less options.

It's just a fad and you'll grow out of it eventually.

I highly doubt that, Qwk Your car STILL looks too HIGH!

I guess it is one of my pet peeves about Thirdgens... I don't like Camaros... I don't like 91/92 Firebirds, and I don't like 82-84 Firebirds... and I don't like any Thirdgen w/o gfx. And Really if you look at that list basically it would seem like I don't like Thirdgens.... oh well...
