a sad day today..

I was told to detail an 89 GTA today. I've detailed a lot of cars, and when a chance came for me to clean a thirdgen F-body came up, my eyes lit up. HOWEVER, as I started the engine to drive it into my bay, the car belched out a big cloud of blue (valve stem seals.. yea, I know) and a LOUD constant knocking could be heard. The car itself was quite clean, and the engine bay was clean, too. But when I was finished with the car, a mechanic came over, winced and said, "doesn't sound too good". I asked him what he thought of that loud constant knock (it definately did not sound like a ping/knock). He said, "spun bearing, the conn rod is knocking against the crank". The car was a stolen car, and some of the consoles looked a bit abused as well.

beautiful car.. black, t-tops...MMmmmmm

If its a recovery, maybe you can find out how to pick it up for cheap. Especiallly if it is clean.

There's a complete 88 TPI engine in the buy and sell for $1300.

If you could get the car for cheap it might be worth swapping engines.

PS. Where do you work age?

Alex, I work at First Guarantee Collision in Coquitlam. We're part of Eagle Ridge Pontiac. BUT, I think that I might be quitting by the end of the week because I was told that I'd be starting an apprenticeship, BUT I'm getting the typical runaround getting screwed by empty promises.

Ah, cool. I buy all my parts Eagle Ridge when I need dealer parts.

In fact I'll probably be there this afternoon or tomorrow morning depending on when my memcal arrives.

Alex- I work across the street from Eagle Ridge Pontiac at First Guarantee Collission. It looks like I'll be working there for A LONG time now, because I just talked to my manager, and it looks like I'm still on track to getting an apprenticeship to be a painter!

anyways.. what's a memcal? if you need parts, maybe I can try and get them for you, unless if you already got the hookups. As for the GTA, the motor is just ****ed.. besides, if I do buy it, it'll be for my future project: the evoluzione body kit. I've already got a Z28.

Sweet! Good luck with that, I've always admired guys who have skill with the paint gun.

A memcal is the thing that plugs into the ECM, it holds the PROM and the knock filters and stuff.

I've got all the PROM burning equipment, I just need a spare memcal because I don't want to desolder my working one.

I'm so close, I expect to have my custom chip in next week if all goes well. :lala:
