Next Week's Meet

Well, let's just set a date, then adjust the time and place to work best for everyone.

Several of us mentioned thursday as the easiest day to meet. Is anyone interested in meeting this thursday? (May 13th)

I'm assuming late afternoon or early evening would work well.

Is everyone okay to meet in town? I honestly don't care where in town, as long as there's room, not much traffic, and not many cops.

So, who wants to meet up this thursday? I'm set after work, I get off between 5 & 6 pm.

Let's make some progress!

Laters,
Scott

I usually work on Thursdays, but my schedule is switched next week so turns out I'll be free on Thursday. I'm down to come cruze (my girl will bring the IROC). 5-6pm sounds good to me.

I hope I can get my wife to get off a bit early that day, otherwise, I see no problems. Can we pm some phone numbers so we don't get all lost and stuff trying to find each other? I'll run it by the wife to see what she thinks.

Sounds good. We can always wait around a little longer or whatever we have to do.

Also, we should probably learn each others actual names, I don't want to be callin' you guys by "ace's rs" and "crazyhawaiian" for too long. Either that or just call each other by our cars' descriptions....

Laters,
Scott

the wife here

There is no way I'm going to be able to get off early this Thursday. Also if we are trying to avoid traffic, no where downtown is good. That also cuts out any malls. I work near the NEX so I think meeting there would be cool. There is usually plenty of parking at the far end of the lot. I get off at 5:30 sometimes 5, so I think 6 would be a good time. We could try to take pictures there (whose camera?) or we could cruise somewhere else to take pics. I'm not sure of a place with a nice view, maybe Pali lookout?

Where is that exactly? How far is that from say... ala moana (as a reference point)?

Anyone have a video camera? That'd be sweet.

And if the NEX has a huge parking lot... you think we could distract the lot security for a little burnout comp? Or better yet, you guys ever see that video of a bunch of 4 or 5 third/fourth gens doing a bigass burnout?...

I think we could top 'em.

One of these days I want to see Rev or Crazy drifting around in person.

Just ideas.

Scott

Being a military brat. I would not want to try any kinda burnout in that parking lot, plus the military is always randomly patrolling the area.

We need to come up with another place. It is not safe to have any kind of meet over in the NEX parking lot.

Right near the NEX is the Moanalua shopping parking lot area, I think it would be alot safer over their. Plus it tends not be real busy near the Pizza Hut area. Witch is where I would recomend going.

Well, I'm gonna meet up with somebody this Thursday whether it's most of you guys or just one or two! So I'm in with the Pizza Hut location idea. Even though I have no idea where it's at! I'll find it. Anybody else game or got a better idea?

My wife won't be able to make it - turns out she had plans already, but she's letting me go. I'll wash the car and bring my camera, even though I lost the stupid interconnect cable so I can't get pictures up until I get another cable. If someone else has a digital camera, that would be cool too.

Anthony - do you have any clue where the old NEX location is? They still have the funiture store there, and Kama'aina Kids daycare is there too, attached to the Chapel. My wife works there, too, but she'll miss seeing all of us by a hair... It's the FIRST (very first) left-hand turn you can make off of Nimitz, as it sits underneath the freeway, as you head into town.

I have an idea of where it's at. Sorry your wife can't make it though. My wife is coming being that the Camaro is her car lol! I have a digital camera. Only 2 megapixel but it does it's job so I'll bring it. I know Shawn has a video camera if he's coming too. Oh yeah, by the way Shawn, if you do come can you bring the fuel lines I wanted. Thanks. So it looks like 2 definite show ups. See you there Ian. We still gotta work out a time. Also, we can always convoy over & meet up at a different spot with anyone else after if the initial meeting spot isn't convenient for everyone. I really wanna get more people that's why so let's make this work. Laterz.

Anthony

I can be there at least by six, earlier if the boss lets me go, shouldn't be a problem. Traffic from Ewa Beach isn't too bad that time of day, either. I don't mind a convoy to another spot, that would be cool too.

I logged in to post the exact same thing! Maybe I should read the rest of these posts to see if anyone gave directions.

Damn, getting there through traffic is gonna be a bitch, though! Oh well.

Hey, if your wife can't make it then how did we all get suckered into meeting at her work? Hehe.

Anyway, I have a better idea of where it is now... I will still need either an address or a good landmark or two (by visual description, because I don't know much of that area). I know where Ron's and Wendy's are... is that the right area or MUCH further down?

I usually get off of work between 530 and 630, but I can sneak out a little early on thursday - probably right around 515 to miss the 500 traffic jam in the building parking structure.

Would 45 minutes be enough time to get there from king st? (A couple blocks from ala moana center.) I think I'd have to take ala moana blvd/nimitz hwy to get there, because it takes like 20-30 minutes just to get from my office to the H1 onramp 3 blocks away at that time of day.

Laters,
Scott

Hey Scott,

You're on the right track. Yeah, Ala Moana Blvd. & then getting onto Nimitz would be your best bet. Travel the entire length of Nimitz Hwy. under the freeway & make the very last right turn before you get back onto the freeway. After you turn right just keep going & you'll see McDonalds on your left. Turn left to get into that parking area & you'll find Pizza Hut. It's a little bit more in. Ian correct me if I'm wrong ok.

Laterz,
Anthony

Man that Pizza Hut rocks, all you can eat pizza! Anyway, I'll see you guys there. If you guys want a more scenic area to take pics, maybe we can meet up there and roll to Lagoon Drive. I wonder if those Sherrifs still have that check out point on Lagoon Drive? They love to give me a hard time about no front plate. If not, that would be a great place for us to line up and take pics with the ocean in the background. Or maybe if its not cool we can goto the Park over there. I dunno, jus throwing out ideas. Yeah I'll bring those fuel lines. I'll bring my vid camera, but I'll also try to barrow a digital camera from my friend. The picture quality is so much better.

Yup - nothing better than a buffet! However, that place is VERY busy and under-staffed, their store manager was running around like crazy trying to do the work of three guys, so DON'T order stuff off the menu, go for the buffet, you can serve yourself and save him some labor, no to mention you dont' have to sit there and WAIT six years for your food to arrive while everyone else is eating... Anyway, I'll be there right around five-something, so I can give the wife a hug before she has to leave, then I'll chill out and wait for you guys to show up.

I agree they have the best pizza their, out of all the pizza hut's that I have been to on this island.

My friend use to work their, but he quit when I got into the accident, cause the manager would not let him go. My friend called Pizza Hut and said can she speak to David, its an emergency, one of him famliy members is in critical condition. He still would not even let him talk on the phone. So he was like "I quit, then" then he left.

You know that you have good friends when they quit their jobs for you

Yeah, I want to go cruise to a better spot for pics if there is still light out. If anyone is riding shotgun, they could take pics of us while we are drivin' around.

Thanks Anthony for the directions. I should be able to find it.

So how many "for sure's" does that make right now? If anyone else reading wants to show up - do it. We'll be the guys in the third gen f-bodies....

What about phone numbers? Maybe someone could take them all down in case someone gets lost. I vote Ian to do that, since he will probably have to wait around for us. I'll pm you.

Laters,
Scott

I've got three phone numbers, and I posted mine, so if you get lost, give me a buzz. I should be there around 5:30 or so, I'll be trying to get my car cleaned up a bit so I don't embarrass us! Just kidding - I did manage to toss the car through a car wash this morning, looks better now, but I will be scrubbing some of the corrosion off of the hood - wish I had thought to bring my aluminum tape to patch the holes...

I think the post with your number was edited. I guess no one will read this before tonight, though.

See you guys later, leavin' work soon.

Well, just gotta say that it was cool that we all met up.

Ian-Love that red bird man. Wish I had leather seats! I'll keep an eye out for a hood.

Scott-Your black bird is awesome too. Hope you get that throttle adj. taken care of.

Shawn-Man that Camaro of yours is unreal. I still love that orange & I'm jealous that that car is blown. Your track car that your gf drove is great too.(Sorry I can't remember your gf's name ) Hope you get that hatch motor fixed & I can't wait to see that car in action at the track when you get the trans taken care of.

Driving in that mini convoy from the parking lot to Lagoon drive got me all giddy! I use to go on car cruises a loooong time ago & I forgot how it felt to do it. Thanks everyone. Figure I should post some random pics of our cruise. I'm not the greatest photographer & don't worry I erased any license plates in view. If any of you want all the pics I took just pm me & I'll email you a zip folder of all of them in its original form. So I say our little meet was a success even if it was for just a little while. Until next time everybody. Hopefully we can get more people & enjoy the pics

Anthony

Cool pictures! Oh well, I won't tell anyone you posted four pictures in a row - not like we have a moderator anyway, right?

I wish I hadn't complained that my car was too quiet - be careful what you wish for! I'm driving to work today and my stinking muffler FALLS OFF THE CAR, dragging along by only one hanger. The pipe had long since rusted through, so it was only a matter of time before the hangers failed. They picked today o do it. So now I got a nice-sounding car, just like you guys!!

I'm going to go see ESH in Waipahu before my safety expires and have them throw FLowmasters on it, as ling as it's 3" pipes and nothing TOO loud.

I had that happen to my camaro last year, then I just had my cat removed, i will see if I can go get a picture of it.

That would be cool. I wish I could have made it. I'm sure i'll be able to drive in about a month or two. Then it will all be good.

I have the movie clip in two different formats
Quicktime - The best (2.3 meg)
MPG - Not the best but will work (1.6 meg)

So if you have dial up, I would not recomend me sending it to you, it would take way too damn long to get it.

I like that first pic best, even though my car is barely in it.

We gotta do this again sometime, hopefully the weather will be a little nicer. It was great meetin' y'all.

And Ian, I actually prefer quiet exhaust - just not factory exhaust. I want somethin' that'll flow like hell and purr like a kitten... until I open her up.... That'd be nice.

Too bad you guys missed it. Make sure you meet up next time!

Laters,
Scott

Damn wish I could have came out to it. Still can't make my car legal yet but once it gets legal we'll have a cruise to Drift Session. Or hell we could even have a cruise to trianges for some drifting. haha

Sounds good Chris. The next Drift Session is May 30th (Sunday) from 5pm to 10pm. $20 to drive, $10 to watch. If you want we can meet up someplace and roll there together (so you dont get lost Scott). Triangles is behind Hawaii Raceway Park in the industrial area. Basically a huge triangle road with no buildings. Perfect for drifting until the cops show up hehe. Hey Chris, Shane is still down to hook you up, so lemme know when you're gonna go for safety.
