The New Muscle Car Era
The New Muscle Car Era
We all know about Zeta, for you lucky camaro loyalists. We Pontiac enthusiasts will still have the goat, and Ford boys will have the new GT's that are almost out. (And hopefully a BOSS variant!)
I'm a huge dodge fan, and I'm eagerly waiting for the Charger release. Even though I can't come close to affording one, PLUS the insurance premiums....
Check out more news... 6-Speed!!

In 20 years from now when we're all driving hybrids and fuel cells and crap like that, RIGHT NOW will be the "good ol' days of muscle."
I hope the GTO stays as a luxo-muscle car, because I'd love to own one, but I really want a firebird in the future. I'd be more than happy with a stripped down zeta car with the full range of engine and transmission options. The poor man's goat! Won't even need IRS to make me happy!

I agree with you about all the great cars comeing out now. my current favorite is the caddy CTS-V. That car is a wolf in sheeps clothing. Who would suspect a 4-door sedan to run 13's in the quater. preformance and the luxury, what more could you ask for, besides a jet engine of course!
the only gripe about newer cars i have is the cramped engine bay. IMO all they did was keep the novice car guy out of his car. he is to afraid to jump it because everything is so packed. i've seen more room in a can of sardines. how are you supposed to change a plug when its under the dash board? i could almost get in with the engine to work on my 73 chevelle. this my be blasphmey but i think the engine of my firebird is kinda tight. i better stop before i get lynched.

Love a sleeper
Thought it had an LS6? Or are there a couple different Caddy's with GenIII plants now? I love those too, sooo nice. Way better than Northstars... those are too hard to work on.
I think my firebird engine bay has "just enough" room. I wouldn't mind and extra inch at the firewall, but hey... who couldn't use an extra inch?
Then again, I'm a small guy and don't have emissions and a/c stuff to get in the way. I can swap all 8 plugs in a couple of minutes.
My '79 Blazer... damn there's a lotta room. Takes me an extra couple of minutes to change those plugs, though. Takes 1 minute each way to get in and out of the engine compartment!! I throw a couple towels in there and sit on the frame while I'm workin' on it. AND there's room for an assistant on the other side!.
Oh, and I love sleepers... nothin' pleases me more than a true sleeper that'll kill you if you look at it wrong!

You are correct, it does have the LS6 and not the LS1. It is rated at just 5HP less than the Z06.
Changeing my plugs is an ordeal that requires the patience of a buddist monk. I have all my emissions crap and a very cold A/C system in my way.
I cant complain to much thats the price i pay for comfort.

My bad, maybe it was an LS6. On another note, I can sit in the engine bay of my 68 Mustang Fastback while I work on the motor

Has anyone here driven the new GTO? I think I'll have to set a day aside to see if I can get a test drive or if the salespeople will be cocky ****** again. As a 20-year-old, I can understand them not being enthusiastic to offer a test drive, but to laugh at me for asking really pissed me off. Pontiac is like Firestone, like their products, HATE their dealers.

The Goat had duals, ayway right? They just exited on the same side so they looked deceptively like a single pipe with a dual tip. Gotta love subterfuge and sleepers
