Body Panels
Wow, here's a kicker. I'm in Canada and just picked up the car I've always wanted: an '89 Iroc. The salty roads here, however, have done me no favours...the lower portions of my wheel wells and door skins on both sides are starting to succumb to rust. I want to restore this car, and it's certainly worth it, everything else is mint (and the floors look brand new...thank you rust proofing!). However, new GM prices for parts make seemingly a simple body job pricey ($800 Canadian a piece for quarters, $300 for door skins, and then I still have to fit them and paint everything).
So on to my question: Does anyone know of a place to get good aftermarket quarter panels and door skins for reasonable prices? Or does somebody whant to save the day and tell me they've got some perfect quarters or door skins they want to sell me? I'm going to do this car right one way or another, but, as I'm sure everyone knows, it's always good to save some money here or there...these cars always 'need' something.

Just in addition, I would like to find complete quarter panel skins, to ensure the end result is as clean as possible...and I'd really like to just replace the door skins, since the door shells are in perfect shape and nicely painted the same color as the rest of the car on the inside surfaces.

I'm still checking out my options, so if anyone's got anything, particularly complete quarter panel skins, let me know! Jproz, from your buddy's car, the quarters are what I'd be interested in...I'm not sure how well a door skin would come off...also, I'm not sure what shipping to Ontario would be like for these things...any chance you could get me some pictures to look at?
how far is the drive to usa
Any GM dealer can get you new 1/4 's for 389.00,I just bought two new in the box full length, left and right.
Screw the skins, hit up a scap.....I mean salvage yard and grab up to doors. Make some calls around the border you would come across? Pick them up on the way in or out this great land!
Just a thought.

Wow, USA is the **** then...I went to the GM dealer across the road from me...$800 dollars a piece for the quarters IF they weren't discontinued, which they are.

Yes they are discontinued, but there are still tons sitting around on the shelves of Gm warehouse's and Dealers warehouse's. Look up the numbers call a dealer in the usa and they will tell you 389.00 (us). Im in PA, mine came from OH it took 12 days , even though its was about 200 miles away, go figure! If you want me to find you a pair just ask!

Well, I'm still looking for this stuff...and I'm just looking for any way around paying more than a grand to Classic Industries for quarter panels alone...so if you've got some you want to cut off and sell, a wreck with good doors and quarters (and maybe a black interior? :P), or can get your mitts on a pair of the GM replacement panels (since anywhere I've tried in Ontario, Michigan and GM parts direct can't get them), let me know. Thanks.
