re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
Thanks guys. Its a fun fun car. Feels like a rocket at the top end compared to last year.
I added 2 videos and a few slips for ya to check out. Totally fell asleep on the 2nd round and had such a horrid light. Been a long few days...to get the car tuned and ready but it ran great. Drove a 120 mile round trip also and it did well.
I love not having a screamer pipe now. All i can hear down the track is the turbo and some throtty exhaust. Love it.
Did i mention that this car is surprisingly consistent! Love that alot.

I really dont have air intake temp problems...seemed to onlly go up 25 degrees in a full pass, thats the main reason I havent used the alky yet. Its the corrected altitude that will sux tommorow...lol

Well I hope you get some good runs in regardless
You have a very potent setup. I cant wait to hook up my goodies, been more worried about getting the car running without problems, lol.

I totally understand. I hope you get it on the road again. Small problems are to be exspected on a build but one you work them all out its worth the time and effort.

Heres some slips....
1st time trial

Here is a 4th round win in the semifinals. dead on with a 7 hit the brakes at the end for the W

When your hot lapping/round robbin the passes the brakes fade when stopping from 110mph...so I really messed up in the finals going LBA. But all in all the car was constant as can be and made it 5 rounds in total. Lost to a good friend. A fellow Fbody V6 guy. 4th gen though. Was a sweet day.
Finals when I messed up vid...lol Not sure if you can see the vid as my GF uploaded it to facebook...not youtube.

re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
Ok guys. Looking for some insite on getting some better 60ft times. Last year I could hold the car better and build boost faster. Now this year im running a big IC and getting a pressure drop, not running alky yet...exc. And I dont have the luxury of using a 2 step let alone dont want crazy fast 60 ft times. But 1.90s at best are getting old fast..lol
I just want to be able to hold the car easy in the process. So i would think that the same amount of fuel and alot less timing would help the turbo spool but make less HP.
Its not that the turbo doenst spool up fast but I need to hit the threshold for that to happen and I see that it is usually arround 2700 rpms or so. My stall flashes at 3000-3100rpm
My question is look at this timing map that im running. If I would command a lot less timing arround my 83-99 area for 2400-2800 rpms would it help the turbo spool up but yet not drag me down the track? Thanks for insite.

ur options are 2step or looser converter
best bet is th350 swap and a good converter for that

re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
Saar I will have to ask the track officials as I am racing at a different track this year. Generally sportsman class does not allow 2 step or electronics. I racked up some points in that class so far, so I plan to run that class the rest of the season. But id still like to run in the pro class and try to have the 2 step controled by the ecm if possible. I read some links on a 2/3 step inergated into the ecm but I believe it was a 8f. Is there a way to make it happen on a $59 mask considering that ive never picked apart and modified one before? Thanks saar.
Dave I dont plan to change the trans this year but my hopes were to do a swap over the winter or just beef up what I have since I cant see myself not having overdrive.

re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
the way i did it for nAst1, i essentially replaced the fuel cut rev limiter with the option of a spark cut instead. and then added multiple levels of cut/restore thresholds based on brake/clutch switch and vehicle speed.
it's all software.

Ok saar. I will see what I can do tonight on it. I saw the nAst1 but was a little lost but let me look over it again and see what I can do.
EDIT. saar. Im not to smart or fluent when it comes to writing in a patch. I see how to do it in tuner pro for my xdf I have loaded but it looks different and ask for different things then I see on your thread on 60degreev6
I hit patches, new xdf item... then im lost.. Ill be honest im not to familiar with coding...

well let me ask this weekend and we will see what happends. I know I can in pro but sportsman its all about if the tech official is in a good mood as thankfully i have a turbo for a excuse.

re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
Well I finally hooked up the alky injection because of the heat out there. Works great. Commanded to hit at 10psi. Ive been running 13.5psi ish at the track. Boost is controlled just by the wastegate. Not planning on using the boost controler as this is more stable all arround. And 13-14psi is plenty enough for now.
But before that I tuned in 1 more degree of timing. Can i feel the difference....not really but no KR still except if i do a burn out. So well see if it doesnt rain this weekend and i get to race it. But I feel much better that I have that alky on now to help keep my motor a tad bit safer.
Oh ya that speedo is calibrated so the MPH is true. 5 seconds 50-100 isnt too bad. But then again I really have nothing to compare it to else then drag strip stuff..so who knows it may have been slower with the alky and richer combo..

re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
I agree. I need to make a datalogg pass without the alky and normal timing first to see what the times are, what the IATs are at the top end of the track and such. Then I will run the alky and tune from there. 20* of timing was roughly what I was using yesterday at 13.5 psi and the alky. Ave of 10.8 afrs on the pull. 11.6 ave on a pull with the same timing and no alky.

re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
Ran 12.63 in the cooler air first time trial. 12.66@112mph in the heat of the day on time trial #2 and then another 12.66@111mph in the first round breaking out on a 12.67 dial in. Didnt run alky as the intake temps were well under control. Ran same tune as in the past weeks. Deadly consistent. Just driver error at the finish line but getting better at gauging my mistakes.
saar. A stock ecm tune with a 2/3 step is ok as long as its for starting line turbo spool up.

Ok saar
I finally got in a 1/4 mile data logg. Intake temps went from 89 at the line to 144 at the end of the track. On a 85 degree day. 60 ft suxs though. Monster down track. Launching at 2100rpm.

re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
Are you not running an intercooler?
That's getting too warm.
Just for reference, my intake temps will get colder when in boost than when in vacuum. My MAT sensor is just behind the throttle body, and the exhaust is directly under the intake so it (the intake manifold) gets heat soaked. The MAT sensor shows an immediate change in temp when I open the throttle. Before I put the IC in my car, my intake temps would go as high as 180* under extended periods of boost.
If you're not running an IC, put one in, even when running alky, keeping the intake temps cool before hand helps immensely.

If you're not running an IC, put one in, even when running alky, keeping the intake temps cool before hand helps immensely.

intercooler is to far back and close to the radiator , causes the air to not flow threw it , i just had this issue on my iroc , air temps were staying withing a decent range but car was overheating since it wouldnt pass enough air threw the radiator.
i think hes running the same 32x12x4 core i am , it needs to be put up in the nose of the car

Wow, either it's placement as project said or it's a shitty IC. Intake temps should not get anywhere near that high with an adequately sized IC.

re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
Ill be honest Ive never had my intake temps close to ambient on a 12-13-14 second pull unless it was with the alky, which goes below ambient.
Dave I moved the IC back a tad a month ago. I drove it all over gods creation yesterday(200 miles with many hard ones...lol) with 90* dry bulb temps and 60% humidity, never had a issue with the engine temp getting over 195 and its a 185 stat. The IC i believe is working fine. Doesnt help that the engine bay is cooking down track and that I really need to wrap those headers up more.
Now that I really look at that datalog the intake temps started arround 110 and went up to 140 give or take. a 30 degree rise i dont think its something to really worrie about running 12-13psi. But then again i may be wrong.
Damm look at that lag though off the line. Doesnt fully boost till top or 1st bottom of 2nd gear. I need to look over the wastegate and hot side boost leaks tonight! The MPH is way off because of the 28 inch slicks. The trap speed was 112mph yesterday on average.

move it fowards not back, the best location is up against the crash bar , or notch the crash bar and push it even more foward into the grill opening
what happens is when its to close to the radiator it builds high presure area between the fmic and rad not allowing air to freely flow threw it and then the air gets pushed around it , and it also picks up heat from the rad

re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
cant move it much more or all the bumper supports will be gone. When I raced it a month ago after i moved the ic forward the temps were 100* at the end of a pull but then again they started out at 75* since it was about 70 out and not 90* like yesterday but I know what ya mean. Ill go out and check that out dave and see if I can move it forward more.
Id really love to yank off the front bumper luvers and front licence plate to help the air get in there.
