New to SC's...got some questions...

I've toyed with the idea of getting a supercharger for while. Right now the motor is stock. If I were to go out and buya SC today...what else would I need? Ignition right? what about injectors? Most certainly a chip right? Is that included in a SC kit? I've also planned some mods like a cam/exhaust/intake work...which would you all do? I kinda like the thought of diggin' into the motor and getting my hands dirty, runnin' all motor, but I'll tell ya what, the numbers with a SC are sure impressive. Just looking to get a feel for your opinions.

I like the prochargers, but I sell the vortechs too. the prochargers offer a few self contained units (meaning no oil lines to run, no hole to poke and thread into the oil pan) they also offer intercooling with thier kits too. you could upgrade to 24# mustang injectors we sell them for around $190. the computer can compensate for this because it is already using 22 to 24# injectors already. dont let people tell you that mustang injectors are rated differently. because car manufacturers dont rate the injectors, the injector makers do. the injector makers use the same BAR (pressure) to rate injectors of a certain "style" and since the gm and ford injectors are roughly the same "style" they rate the same. that is why when you look at the injector manufacturers catalogs (holley and accel are good examples) they list the 19# mustang 5.0, and 305 iroc as well as many other cars and injector sizes the same. as far a the kit . the kit comes with a wonderous little device called an FMU (fuel managment unit) it is like an additional fuel pressure regulator that adds extra fuel at boost that the stock computer wouldnt even know to add. so no chip is required. I would recommend as mods either the proper set of 1.6 rockers (for your engine year) or a mild cam from the compucam line (to play it safe) otherwise you might get a cam that does not compliment your intake or the blower. talking to comp cams 1-800-cam-help could net you a cam for your needs but you better have enough specifics to give them something to work with, like the blower and boost level. I have a few favorite cams myself, but I dont recommend the HOTT LT4 cam unless you are only running about 6 PSI or at really high altitude (over 5000 feet) because it is too good and generates too high of cylinder pressures (what it was designed to do). the cylinder heads is another story, you can go anywhere from stock L31 vortechs to a set of CNC AFR's this will be the deciding factor for lower manifold. you can go with a superram, mini ram, or stock plenum with aftermarket runners, and a larger TB would be suggested. this all depends on how much $ you have to work with.

WOW! Thanks! Tons of info.

Reality has to set in and I don't think i'll be buying one soon, but your reply did answer some questions. I hope to get pretty deep into the moter this summer, but I want to get a good grasp on my new mods and their tuning before I jump into a SC.

Thanks again.
