I would definitely go for it if it weren't my daily driver. How would it hold up in terms of mileage and durability as a daily driver? If it's not too good, i'll have to wait until i get another car then bolt one on

Paul, awesome car first off. Yes a stock engien can handel up to 9 lbs at best, anything more will put to much stress and serious shorten the life span of the engine and you might put a pistion through the side of the block.

If you replace the internals, pistons and rings with forged stuff then you can ride that boost up to 12lbs.

For mine I am planning on replacing the pistons and rings when I stick my need heads on. L98 Aluminum heads on a 305 with forged pistions and you'll have a low 12 sec 305.

Of course headers cam and the right igintion will help. If you don't have your ignition upgraded for better spark and at least a full free flowing exhuast don't be bolting things on just yet.

thanks pennyless i have the headers but was waiting to put them on when i tore down motor for a supercharger. what ignition whoud i use msd 6al? was thinking of a cam as well but if i do that i may freshen up the motor and get some heads and porting done........AAAAHHHHHGGGG!!!!! all kinds of decisions.. but for now i will stick for ignition s/c and headers if i do a cam now what would be a good streetable choice?

Ignition is really an easy one at that, MSD, Accel, Comp all good all around the same. Try a new coil, some 8mm wires and new igintion box. Maybe a distrubutor its up to you.

A good cam for that 5.0 HO >>
Crane Cams PowerMax Emissions Legal Cams $259.00
270-104224 (Factory hydraulic roller for 87-89 Corvette & F-body w/350 TPI.)
Adv. Duration: 270º/276º
Gross Lift: .452''/.465''
Series: 2032HR

But with headers and some ported heads and the ingintion you will see some kick *** improvements, SERIOUS POWER GAIN before that S/C goes on your car, go to the track before you get the S/C you'll be ****tin a brick.

305 TBI yeah that is a pointless build up but 305TPI its worth while if ya ask me. Look at ******* car

I've been told that the Comp 268XE is a nice cam. Mark Shields is doing the swap now. He should be done with it tomorrow. Thats what i'll be putting in my L98 too. You gonna come out and cruise with us? Check out the Mid Atlantic board. Later

Paul,

I have this cam on my 305 and I like it a lot. Infact it's brilliant! However, it's designed for 87 up motors with hydraulic rollers which your 86 doesn't have.
