11`s on a stock block??

Has anyone done it? So far I have managed a best of 12.179 @115. My heads are stock but have been modified and i am running 1.6 rockers. Msd, pulleys, afpr and a TNT 150 shot. I have an edelbrock base ,slp runners and 52mm tb that i havent put on yet cus im debating wheather or not to change the cam but I am reluctant cus my car is speed density and im going to have to have a custom prom and i didnt want to go there yet. My car is a 91 TA and has a full interior andalso a/c. If anyone has done it or has gone the same direction as me let me know of any pitfalls i may encounter. Thanks for all the help.

I just read in Hot Rod about a formula 350 that runs 10s on a stock short block.

I haven't run in the 11's yet, but I am sure the car will once I take it to the track (see signature).

I don't see any reason why you couldn't run in the 10's in a street car with a stock bottom end and nitrous (or a supercharger) without much effort. The key is to not overrev (keep it at 6000rpm or lower), not to push too much nitrous thru it (150hp max), and not to overboost it (no more than 8-10lbs). With a good heads, cam, and intake a 350 should be able to push out 375hp or more add 150hp nitrous and you could possibly dip into the 10's with a stock-weight third gen.

thanks for the info guys. Yeah the guy running 10`s had a really tricked out formula with lots of stuff removed he didnt even drive it any more only trailered it to the race track. 10`s are possible just not in a full weight street car with a stock block or so i think. My goal is to be in the solid 11`s i just didnt know if anyone had done it yet on a stock block in a true street 3rd gen. Im running BFG drag radials with a best 60ft of 1.55 I have thought of going with some et streets but i dont think my 9 bolt will take it.

Impressive? It is very impressive considering his 11.99 was at 1200 feet (Firebird International). And most importantly, it's a 305!!!!

I'm sure Tim will chime in. I'll e-mail him a link to this post.

Actually, it was 11.97 - hopefully deeper in the 11's next time with a "functional" clutch, now! The corrected stats are in my sig........still not too shabby for a "wimpy" 305.....

are you just not hooking with the BFG`s?? 18 to 20 psi is what they seem to like. Hey Tim do you drive your car daily? Or is it mainly a drag car? What kindda power adder are you using? Man 11.97 on a 305 has gotta be some kind of record.Congrats bro. I just got my base ,58mm tb and waiting for my runners. Dont know how much diff this will make on my time slips.

Yes, it's my daily driver....125 hp nitrous. It runs high 12's off the bottle.
