cheap cold air intake for TPI

I found some parts at Autozone that work for a cold air intake on a TPI Firebird using a MAF setup. I don't know if you all are aware of this or not so I thought I would share.

Things you will need:

Drill and drill bits.
Straight Screw driver
Short 10mm bold and nut (approx 1/2 inch long to bolt two flat brackets together)

Cold Air Intake Tube made for Civic/Integra - 39.99
(I know I know rice stuff)

A cone style filter of your choice (I chose the 20 dollar filter found in the isle with the pipe) all made by Spectre - 19.99

1. Remove entire stock intake from MAF to Air box including the lower tray that the stock air box mounts to. This will uncover what would be the battery tray on an older firebird or camaro.

2. Relocate the vacume canister closer to the radiator by turning it sideways and boring two holes in the body/framework of the car. Use the same bolts that held down the canister in the first place.

3. Take the new intake tube from the package and remove the black rubber connecter on the end. Place the rubber connecter on the straight end of the pipe BACKWARDS. (the rubber boot is a reducer for the hondas but needs to be turned around and forced on to the pipe so the large end is free to go over the MAF. This is a tight fit to put it on the pipe but it will go).

4 Place the new filter on the curved end of the pipe. Fit pipe on to MAF with rubber boot using a hose clamp such as the one off your old intake tube. Align everthing so that the filter doesn't rub on anything and be sure to watch the clearance of the hood. If you turn everything just right the hood will not hit the pipe and the filter will be free of the overflow tank. The pipe also comes with a piece of vacume hose which I used because mine was not long enough to hook back up to the canister in its new location. once everything is where you need it, take the braces that came with you pipe and bend them into location using one of the bolts from the stock air box mounting tray and mount the brace bolting it into one of the holes where the stock box was mounted.

This will all make sense when you go to actually do it. Everything does fit and works great. I notice a great increase in throttle response and torque along with a nice throaty sound when you step on the gas. My total cost on this is 60 bucks and some change... Looks great and works great.
