Do you need the AN sleeves for flared alu tubing or the starlite hoses?

Well if you are planning on just using the hard tube adapters.....no you dont need them

If you want to use a tube nut, then yes you have to use tube nuts and sleeves in conjunction with each other

Starlite hose is the expensive lightweight hose....you can use the special "crimp" fittings aeroquip sells but i wouldn't install them yourself, or you can use the normal AN fittings with that hose

Yes you need the sleeves. It adds strength to the flare and prevents the nut from damaging the tube since AL tube is alot softer than steel.

I guess my sentence was kind of weird, I wasn't asking what to use, I meant to ask what downwithET wanted to use, I couldn't really make up out of his question

um....the sleeve is what seals against the flare what you tighten the nut, if you didn't use it, you'd leak

No it isn't. The flare seals against the flared end of the tubing.
