Fuel Cell

Anyone with a fuel cell, please post pics. I'm particularly interested in seeing what you did for a rear firewall...the rear hatch design and the way everything is designed back there make it look a little tougher to do than on some cars. My 85 TA is getting two cells in the rear, one for fuel and the other for water (intercooler reservoir).

www.edquay.com

makes a nice kit, pricey though

www.chargedair.com can make you an aluminum cell of any size you want that fits in the stock gas tank placement

again, pricey and a long wait

I'm curious, why if you mounted the fuel cell back there didn't you mount the muffler up where the tank used to be?

For that matter, wouldn't you have been better off fitting the cell in the stock tank location for a handling setup?

1) The exhaust is a modified Mufflex 4"-when the car is dropped there is little clearance for the 4" pipe between the differential housing and frame-modifying 4" pipe is expensive-didn't think of it at the time-focus was on fuel delivery

2) the car has adjustable suspension, and we scale the car for 49/51 meaning we put the weight on the wheels we want anyway

I'm assuming by weight jacking...

that wasn't really my point, it's not a question of weight distribution, but one of moment of inertia. You just put something that is potentially really heavy at one extreme end of that car, so when it's full the car will be slow to respond and once you start the ends changing direction it will be hard to stop them (relatively).

The other thing is that for a handling setup I'm not sure that there is any good answer for the gas tank besides as close to the center of the car as possible. The idea is that you want using up the gas in the tank to change the setup as little as possible

bbunting, How do you like that aeromotive pump? Is it loud? I am going to change my pump soon but dont want the hassle involved with the intank pump so I was thinking of going inline. Is that the pump that is good for 1000hp on a fi car or the 1400hp one?
