Interesting Intercooler Placement

Saw this interesting intercooler placement scheme while at the Snowbird Nationals in Bradenton, FL.

Passangers are overrated any way .

the pass seat has spot has been used and abused on several NSCA, PSCA,NMCA cars as an alternate for L to air intercooler and nitrous bottles for a few years now...

It ran mid Sixs in qualifying averaging about 230+, I asked the guys running it about their setup and they didn't really seem to want to divulge too many details.

He was 5th qualifier in his class. There was a 2001 Red mustang that ran 6.1 but I couldn't even get a picture of that car, that how secretive that race team was being in the pits.

Here is a rail car that goes in the high to mid 4s, but his setup seems to break alot. He is a local guy so I have seen him run like 14 times but only get down the track without a problem 3 times.

well if these guys are running low 6's as the national record in the full bodied cars, then an 1800# rail, well anything goes.

B4Ctom1: They said the only rules in the class was that the cars had functional doors.

dans82bird: unforntunatly his setup broke constantly so it was usually limping down the 1/4 mile or being towed back to the pits. I have yet to see the car qualify.

edit: Additionally its an IHRA track and for you your race fans scoring at home, under the IHRA Black Flag rule you lose points for "Interruptions" of racing action.

General Race Regulations p128 IHRA rule book

Black Flag Rule, Penalty for interruptions:
PENALTIES: 15 points will be duducted for penalties in TF and NH. For PM, FC, PS, TS and TD classes the penalty will be as follows: 1st violation: 15 points; 2nd violation (at same event): 20 points; 3rd violation (at same event): 25 points. No clean run points will be awarded during eliminations.

So as you can see he hasn't been doing so well in the points department.

Mid 4's IM calling , not on you but wherever you heard that from. 6000hp top fuel cars run mid 4's and I will bet anything that that dragster does nothing better than a 6.50 at about 210 mph.
