I figure an 16-71 or 18-71 would be the loudest, but you could save alot of money and not have to mess with all that expense and irritatingly masive power just by getting the supercharger stickers and running a pete jackson noisy gear drive....

My Vortech V-1 S-trim is pretty loud. I personally would like it a little quieter.

My brother's 92 RS has an F1A with the cog drive. That is one loud SOB! There is no denying it has a supercharger.

It's not that loud.... it only sets off car alarms....

But, yeah, a cog driven F1A is a level of loud you just have to experience.

But to the OP, if you're planning on racing people with it vs. just intimidating them out of racing you, loud is the last thing you want. Mine is set up the way it is because I enjoy scaring small children, housepets, and the non-automotive minded just by having the car running near them.

Willie used to have a thread on here about how well they fit. But I'll try to take a few shots and post them up tonight. It's the same physical size as the D1SC and uses the same bracket. It is quite a bit louder though. Especially with the cog drive using the ATI blower cog with the clutch drive setup in it.

I don't think you have to worry about hijacking, this thread is 7 years old. The guy has probably already bought a supercharger and sold the car to put his grandchildren through college.

Fitment is pretty good, the only issue is the cog setup makes the radiator neck a VERY TIGHT area.

To make life easier he had a radiator done up with a custom outlet that comes out on of the side of the tank and goes up, instead of coming out toward the alternator. You have to see the pics. Works beautifully.

The blower fits just fine. It isn't physically any larger than the D1SC. Getting a large enough air filter on it is another question since it moves a lot of air when it's spun up.

Running the cog setup makes fitment of the upper radiator hose an issue depending on exactly which cog and radiator combination you use. The ATI sprag clutch one is thicker than the Procharger ones and makes it that much worse. Getting cooling fans to fit is the other problem and you will want to invest in low profile aftermarket fans to clear the cog belt idler pulleys. The cog drive will also require removal of the Wonderbar off the car if you are using one of those.

And finally, if you thought the ribbed belts were expensive, the cog belt I'm using lists for close to $200 so have an open mind and open wallet when you move to the cog setup.

Here's the pics I promised a week or so ago... I think I'm past the point of needing anything else fabricated... at least I hope I am. The radiator had to be re-done to fit past the ATI superpulley. If anyone wants one, the CAD file is ready to go at Ron Davis Racing and you get to pay less than I did...

Now I just need to finish routing the air intake because that little filter just isn't going to cut it. And maybe a longer upper radiator hose so I can tie it down better to the top of the radiator.

Forgot to mention this in the first reply... The BeCool is nice ( I tried one of those in the car first ) but it will not clear the upper radiator hose if you retain the AC and use the sprag clutch cog pulley from ATI. It will fit (tightly) with the Procharger cog pulley's though.

Yes, that is a F1A in all its polished glory. it doesn't use the brace from the charger to the alt because there isn't a hole in the bracket for the brace to bolt through. It came with the brace, just no way to bolt it to the bracket. There are other braces in place though at the bottom of the bracket to the engine block and the corner just below the charger back to the side of the engine block to lock the bracket solidly in place. If you'd like, I can try to get pictures of those. I believe they are still available from ASSC Racing or you could try to fab your own version.

Also, if you're going HSR, here's your warning. HSR + poly motor mounts = cowl hood required. Rubber mounts or, maybe, solid mounts you can likely get the stock hood back on, but the poly mounts left me needing about 3/4 inch extra clearance at the throttebody to close the stock hood and the stock hood didn't have that much material to remove without cutting a hole completely through it.

Trust me on this one.... at least on my Camaro, the HSR + poly motor mounts meant the stock hood was not going back on. I have seen other Camaros with rubber motor mounts, the HSR, and a stock hood though. And I wouldn't even want to try and put a HSR on the GTA I've got. It's getting a Miniram instead.....

The bracket is from a D1SC kit and the F1A bolted right in. The brace to the alternator does not have a spot to put it so I just didn't use it. I'm not worried about it either with the other bracing that is in place to make the bracket more rigid.

Even with the energy suspension engine mount inserts inside the stock mount casings on my B4C, a Accel Super Ram did not fit. It hit the wiper motor. I had to use stock mounts.

My D-1 whines pretty good. A little trick to take the edge off is to get a stick of wheel weights and stick them to the gear box housing. Gets rid of some of the higher pitched sounds.

My vortech is real loud but I have it pullied to the max. Its alot quieter when I spin it slower. It whistles the loudest at idle and almost hurts my ears with the hood off.
