supercharging

i have an 85 t/a and i want to super charge it but i have v-belts and it seems like they only make superchargers for serpentene belt cars so i was wondering if it would be possible to go to the local junk yard and get a serpnetene set up off and 88 or newer t/a and bolt it on to mine. and i know that march pulleys sell a conversion kit for my car but will that work if i buy that because i was looking at the ATI prochargers and they start an the year 88 and they only make them for 5.7 liters and i have a 5.0 will it work or not.

Yes, you can go to the junk yard and simply take the serpentine set-up and move it over to your car. This is what I am doing when I buy my supercharger.

Would you buy an ATI kit directly from ATI? is there somwhere better to get it? can you run more than 12 PSI without copper headgaskets? (but with forged everything)

Converting to a serpentine system (1988 - 1992) is fairly simple. I did it on my '87.

I bought my ProCharger from Dave Back at Tenacious Performance:

http://www.tenperf.com

It was the best price and I received excellent service.

Yes, these kits work on 305's and 350's. I have a 305.

You can run more than 12-psig without copper head gaskets. I run over 14 with AFR's and GM composition head gaskets. You'll definitely need forged pistons, but the stock crank / rods are sufficient. After 40,000 miles of supercharged use, my 305 was disassembled for inspection. My stock crank and stock rods were magnafluxed with absolutely no evidence of stress cracks.

Cool i have a blower motor with a blower but i want to go centrifugal for MPFI reasons. ATI 2-core intercooling + 12 PSI sounds about right for me. If i decide to drop the $$$. How much do those kits go for? I cant find prices.

I bought my D1SC with a 3-core intercooler two years ago. I do not know how much any ATI kits cost nowadays. Contact Dave.

ATI's retail price list is exactly that, retail directly from ATI. Going through any vendor will result in significantly lower prices.

Let me rephrase for those who could not comprehend my statement.

ATI's retail price list is what a consumer pays if they purchase directly from ATI. If you choose to purchase through one of their many vendors such as Tenacious Performance, the price is much less.

Hope this is clear.

Why do i see $2500 yet people constantly quote prices or $4500 or more?

Oh never mind i get it. the SUPERCHARGERS are $2500 but you still need all those other parts to make it a "kit". hah. wow intercoolers are expensive
